Every one of you pants wetters would take a TE in Week5 if he could limp through the door at One Buc...  But you don't want Demps?

Why would we want a player who doesn't care about the team?  Your hypothetical tight end, the one with the limp, staggers into One Buc Place because he wants to be here.  He wants to contribute.

And that's important.

Not really that important.  Ever heard of "Tryout Tuesdays"?  Teams don't care about loyalty as much as they do about winning... all year long.

You don't think it's important that a player want to contribute to his team?

Really?

That is your concocted nonsense.  Really.

he sounds motivated to play football to me:

“I’m just focused on running,” Demps said in a phone interview before the World Championships. “Once I get back to the States, I’ll sit down and have a talk with those guys.

Demps said he planned on running “a few meets” after worlds and that he didn’t have any long-term goals set in either sport.

“Once my season is over, I’ll sit down and see what my next move will be,” he said.

I cannot fathom employing a man, in any field, that had no interest (even financially) in working for me.

Where do you get that he has no interest in playing for the Bucs?  He spelled out his intentions before they ever traded for him.

If you wouldn't employ a person without knowing that they had no interest...explain the draft... and Bo Jackson.  Yeah, that one cost the Bucs plenty.  Demps... not so much.

Only if you are concocting something yourself.  As I said, teams don't care about loyalties.

Technically we aren't employing him. We pay him no salary unless he reports ...he doesn't even take up a roster spot.

It's like saying we employed Jake Plummer....not really.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

I dont think Blaze even said anything about "loyalties"  Loyalty is not the issue with Demps, motivation is . .  or LACK of motivation to play football.

Damn, you figured it out!  I am actually his agent and I forced him to say this just a few days ago about his interest in football:

“I’m just focused on running,” Demps said in a phone interview before the World Championships. “Once I get back to the States, I’ll sit down and have a talk with those guys.

Demps said he planned on running “a few meets” after worlds and that he didn’t have any long-term goals set in either sport.

Acutally, as his agent I told him he should just respond with "fluck football, damn it!!" because I knew that kind of "evasive" and "indirect" response would keep the Red Baord hoping against hope even more than it already is!

Such an effective spin doctor, I know . .

Really not sure what about that evades you.  He's focused on track.  When he's done with his season, he'll come in to see if he fits with the Bucs.  But, you concoct away.

Yep.

From SR's Fab 5...

Don’t be surprised to see running back and return specialist Jeff Demps report to the Buccaneers from track season after Week 1. By doing so, the Bucs will have a week’s worth of a roster exemption to see how Demps looks in practice to decide whether to keep him on the active roster or waive him and see if the team can sneak him on the practice squad.

10.29? He should think about NFL now. He ran faster than that in high school.

If he is half as good as the hype I hope he comes to play but until he is on a field wearing pewter ...
