and a team is willing to offer a 1st round pick (say 14-18), do you take it?

You would save $8M off the salary cap in 2014.

What's the point in drafting good players if you aren't going to keep them.

If he only has 5 sacks again and someone offers a 1st rounder and the chance to shed his ridiculous contract....where do I sign ?

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

McCoy was our only bright spot on defense last year. Well David was too but that Dline is nothing without GMac.

if McCoy is a top 100 player you dont trade him, you sign him.

This is what I think about the Glazers being cheap...

If McCoy is a top 100 player he would be glued to quarterbacks.

If McCoy wasn't a top 100 player, why would a team offer a first round pick?

I'm not trading GMC for anything. Dude is about to enter his prime and by all accounts has been nearly unblockable this preseason. Him and Spence will be a powerful duo for years to come. Sign him to a 5 year contract, then debate trading him at the end of that contract. This next 5 years is probably going to be as good as he will ever be.

Using my example of 14-18, there's a 95+% chance those players won't be top 100 players either. So there goes that logic.

He's still a good player, I just think he's better suited as a 3-4 end. Barring any major breakthroughs in his play, we're better off with the extra cap room and pick. There isn't any value in paying a guy $13M for 5 sacks.

Then I extend him, which would likely have the added bonus of reducing his short-term cap hit if necessary.

Except for when the playoffs are out of the picture and it's couldy outside.  Then it's OK to play like sh!t, apparently.
