They (The Raiders) may be concerned, but that did not stop them from sending a throng of their staff to his pro day workout.  And after the workout, I heard they were even more enamoured with the man-child.

I have heard he has been somewhat aloof, but as Ray said, you don't get that good by being that lazy.

I'd be concerned about those things too.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

Raiders | Team concerned with Russell's weight
Thu, 22 Mar 2007 18:17:31 -0700

Steve Corkran, reporting for the Sporting News, reports the Oakland Raiders returned from the NFL Scouting Combine with some concerns about Louisiana State QB JaMarcus Russell being their man for the top pick in the draft. Publicly, the Raiders haven't commented about Russell or any of the other players who attended the combine. Privately, however, certain Raider officials have questioned Russell's work ethic and have shown concern about his weight being a long-term problem.

I wonder if this is just a smoke screen that the Raiders are throwing out or if they are really serious about drafting Calvin Johnson or maybe Brady Quinn instead of JaMarcus Russell.

I think it's all a smokescreen.  They may be a little concerned, but not enough to make Quinn the top pick.  I believe Oakland will be picking Russell.

They're posturing to force someone to bite and get reamed like Houston AND to lower his asking price to be #1 overall.

Thats old news. The combine happened quite a while ago and Russell didn't really do much, and since then he has had his pro day where he did a lot more.  If Oakland is sending out "private" concerns now about the combine without mentioning the pro day then its just smokescreen stuff.

Well if they think his weight is gonna yo-yo then the fat-thin thing might be an issue. The Faders don't have to send out smoke screens, they can take who they want.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

I've posted about this but I agree with the Raiders. Showing up at the combine Fat and out of shape tells you about his dedication.  He's since been in damage control but the fact is he is who he is. If I'm the Raiders I pass on him, I hope they don't but I see them passing on him.

Gas $4 a gallon, Thank you all who voted for the Socialist.
