Free Agent Wish list (cuts free up good money)

CB Charles Tillman Bears (Ties to Lovie Smith)
DE Jared Allen Vikings (Ties to Leslie Frazier)
OT J'Marcus Webb Vikings ( Ties to Leslie Frazier)
CB Mike Jenkins (Ties to Tampa USF, cheap depth)
FB Greg Jones Jaguars (stop gap for Copeland to develop)
WR Jeremy Macklin Eagles (1 year prove contract, slot wr with home run threat)
WR Hakeem Nicks Giants (replace Mike Williams as Number 2)
RB/KR/WR Dexter McCluster (Largo High School, hometown discount, versatile)
QB Michael Vick or Josh McCown or Matt Cassel or Matt Schaub

None of these guys are on the top 25 free agent list and should not demand huge money. I believe these guys are talented and would be good fits.

Thoughts?? Which free agent QB would you bring in? Should we cut Mike Williams?

Lorig is a pretty solid FB though.... I don't know if that position would be on my to do list. Also, I would say a Pass Rushing DE > TE.. but Ebron in the middle of round 1 would be ideal. And I think it would be a good move if we could keep Gorrer around (if it was close to vet minimum).

The rest seems pretty good though.

Agreed on Lorig. He makes a very low salary and is a good player. You're also cutting 4 players from the OL but only bringing in 3. It's an area where we need depth and I'd be cautious about cutting Larsen and Carimi. We'll likely keep Nicks for another year because of his contract, but getting rid of Davin is something I'm on board with.

1) if you want more cap space you cant cut Carl Nicks and Mike Williams this year
2) after senior bowl, i'm not sure Cyril Richardson is worse any 2nd day pick!
3) pass on Seantrel Henderson before the 6th round
4) Jalen Saunders senior bowl weight-in: 5'9 / 164  = udfa
5) hope we dont draft a FB...
6) Maclin, Nicks & McCluster when you already have $11M per year on VJax?
7) need more LBs, DTs (no depth if you dont keep Landri & Gibson)... and a new punter
8) don't like J'Marcus Webb
9) no Michael Vick please!
10) do not think we have a compensatory pick without any official report!

I certainly don't agree with this route.

This is not a good route, or even remotely realistic.

Cutting Mike Williams is a nightmare.  There's no reason to do it until after the murder spree.

I would not cut Carimi immediately.  He's pretty good depth and has some positional flexibility.  1.3 is not a bad cap number at all.  I would have signed and/or drafted several other linemen before I let Gabe go.

I still have no firm grasp of the ramifications of cutting Nix at any particular point in time.  Far and away the Buccaneers best option is for Carl to play football in the NFL, even at a diminished level.  Even that doesn't seem realistic at this point unfortunately though.

I would add Barth to the cut list initially.  If he doesn't negotiate down he gone.  Same for Penn.  Take a pay cut or walk.  I would ask the same of Joseph.  I would keep him at 4 mil.  I know a lot of people think he flat out sucks.  I think he's ok, and I'm kinda scared of the guard market.  I certainly wouldn't cut all our guards and then go into the draft having to pick day 1 starters.

There is a bunch of garbage at the bottom of our 2014 roster (20ish names) that are no dead money cuts and earn between 420 and 570k next season.  Any or all of them could be gone and I would shed no tears.

Several of those non-resigns I would like to have on our roster for the right price.  There is some quality roster depth you're letting walk onto the street.  I really liked what I saw of Leonard on the field.  It might be crowded cause I like Lorig also.  Not so much that I wouldn't mind an upgrade, but would do that before I burned Erik's bridge.  I think there's a spot on the roster for Underwood as well.  Unless he wants more then minimum.  I want Hayward backI.  He's not a starting NFL linebacker, but he is very valuable to any NFL roster.  I would take Ted Larsen back at the right price.  He's not a horrible backup guard.

I can't really speak on free agency until we see who resigns with their current teams.  I do really like the model that the Cardinals used last season though.  If our new gm had something important to do with that haul, and with Lovie as the front man, I could see us being very productive in free agency.  The Cardinals plugged a bunch of holes effectively and inexpensively.  I like Bruce, but I doubt he commands the respect of the average vet fa the way Lovie will.

I'd primarily go offense during the draft, but I wouldn't mind this. Fiedorowicz and Colter can be big contributors to our offense. Plus, we grab some more depth on the offensive line.

Draft
1. CJ Mosley, ILB, Alabama (Trade Back, receive a 2nd.)
2. La'el Collins, OL, LSU
3. C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa
4. Ben Gardner, DE, Stanford
5. Beau Allen, DT, Wisconsin
6. Daryl Williams, OL, Oklahoma
7. Kain Colter, WR, Northwestern
7. Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State  (Compensatory?)

Free Agency
Charles Tillman, CB, Bears - 2yrs
Jared Allen, DE, Vikings - 2yrs
Josh McNown, QB, Bears - 3yrs
Will Herring, ILB, Saints - 3yrs

Final Roster
QB: Mike Glennon, Josh McNown
HB: Doug Martin, Mike James, Bobby Rainey, Jeff Demps
FB: Erik Lorig
WR: Vincent Jackson, Mike Williams, Tiquan Underwood, Kain Colter, Russell Sheppard, Chris Owusu
TE: Tim Wright, C.J. Fiedorowicz, Nate Byham
OT: Donald Penn, DeMar Dotson, La'el Collins, Gabe Carimi
OG: Carl Nicks, Ted Larsen, Jamon Meredith, Daryl Williams
C: Jeremy Zuttah
DE: Jared Allen, Adrian Clayborn, William Gholston, DaQuan Bowers, Ben Gardner
DT: Gerald McCoy, Akeem Spence, Beau Allen, Derek Landri
OLB: Lavonte David, Mason Foster, Johnathan Cassilas, Dekoda Watson
ILB: CJ Mosley, Will Herring
CB: Darrelle Revis, Charles Tillman, Johnthan Banks, Leonard Johnson, Danny Gorrer
S: Dashon Goldson, Mark Barron, Keith Tandy, Kelcie McCray
ST: Connor Barth, Kirby Van Der Kamp, Andrew Economos

I like Lorig, but he's developed into an average NFL FB.  I don't see why you wouldn't be on the look out for an upgrade.  As long as he's cheap he's ok, but he's never going to be a weapon in the pass game.  He also has a good deal of ground to cover to become a top tier run blocker.  He's gone from mediocre to average thus far imo.  No it's not a priority, but FBs are cheap on the fa market as well as the draft.

Personally I'd like to see Lorig brought back as an inline TE and back up FB. Lonnie Pryor is legit. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be our fulltime FB going forward. Even if you don't like Pryor...drafting a FB and signing a FB seems silly.

I consider that a more difficult and important position.  I like Erik less there.  I've never seen drive in his blocking.  My guess is he translates to a below average blocking TE.  Has always seemed like a decent straight line runner but quite a stiff athlete (which I'm guessing would hurt him more on TE routes then FB routes).  He catches the ball pretty well I think, but I struggle to remember him making a single contested catch.  I don't have an opinion on Pryor.  I certainly wouldn't draft and sign FB.  Either/or depending on the market/class, and only if I identified someone clearly better.  I just think the potential to upgrade on Lorig is fairly wide and should be cheap.

i like pryor, but would rather see him as a combo guy.  fulltime FB at 230 cant be easy.
