Some Lovie quotes:

"We have to have a double-digit sack guy on the outside, and we don't have that right now."

[On Gholston] "Is he a speed rusher? No, not necessarily a speed rusher off the edge, but he is a complete defensive end. How we judge defensive linemen: Can he pass rush? It's not a guy playing the run. He's a good run player. To me, what distinguishes defensive linemen is can he rush the passer."

"Clayborn has been a good, solid player. But solid gets us 4-12. We have to be better at those positions. We've got to get more guys that can run and hit. I know that's generic. But that's the game, and it's true. That's what we're going to do is to keep upgrading our roster. We're not there."

Lovie sounds like he believes trading up for Clowney would be worth it...

Oh this all warms my heart to hear. Bye bye Rutgers and stop the run first, welcome back to the 21st century defense!

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

Dolorous wins . Been banging this drum for months among a sea of idiots who want to take a Nose Tackle.

What is your point? I was wrong? Ok. You win. I was wrong.

A big reason for why the Bucs were so good at stopping the run (besides McCoy and David being beasts) was that they would blitz on any down.

That all sounds great in theory but if teams find out that they can run the ball at will, that's exactly what they will do. Does the 12-8-08 MNF game against the Panthers ring a bell? Talk about a hopeless feeling. Both Kiffin's final Bucs teams and Morris' teams were pretty much that way. Schiano didn't do much else but at least he finally gave the Bucs a respectable run defense.

Donald at #7!..lol.

Love what he said about Clayborn. In all honesty,  he should probably be our number 3 DE on a per snap basis.

Until preseason, you stay classy Red Board.

Gap integrity and hustle and the run defense will be fine.

BTW, assuming this to be true the guy now on the outside looking in is Spence who has zero pass rush ability. Is this a guy who gets traded to a team that needs a 2 gapping type player?

No I think they'll keep Spence in the rotation because the 3 tech still needs a NT. Lovie drafted Stephen Paea kinda high and he didn't bring much to the pass rush.

I can see the Bucs using Spence as a throw-in in a draft day trade, especially in a move down.

On another note, I love how direct both Lovie and Licht are when talking about this time and what they need to do to improve.  No games, no BS.
