I'm willing to go with Garcia as the starter, but I think I'm one of the few who would rather see Plummer start with Garcia as the BU.  I do think Simms could be traded, if Plummer agrees to return before the draft - pending we get at least a 2nd rounder [which might be asking too much].
A 2nd is too much....we'd be doing good to get a 3rd or 4th.

Why do so many people make a stink over all of our QBs? Even if Plummer, Garcia and Simms are our 3 QBs on roster, we're still around $10 million TOTAL for quarterbacks - which is what some teams pay for just ONE.

Yes but our 3 $10m worth of QB's aren't as good as one of their $10m QB *

* Atlanta being the exception
Would Culpepper be an exception he was given guaranteed 10 mil last year?

I think plummer is a good quarterback but if we have to worry about him showing up and all this retirement crap i dont want to deal with him. On the other hand simms is already to play and i think he will be a good quarterback soon.

Based on what?

but where do you get the idea Simms will be a good QB?  That's what confuses me.  It's been 4 years and he still sucks.

I really hesitate to use this when people say stuff like that, but what the heck: lineage. I think people are blinded when they hear that last name, they see images of Phil, they see Matt, they just assume he's better than Phil, he's got Phil's tools, ect., isn't that the same thing that kills Eli Manning again and again? Everyone assumes Simms will project to being above average, but step back and look at his college career, in which he couldn't win the big one and was replaced by a guy whom Simms was supremely more athletic and talented than, but wasn't nearly as savvy or intelligent. Now look at his situation here, he's got the big arm, the body, the looks to be a quarterback, ect., but is he really all that talented?

Where does this magically potential come from? He hasn't shown mental growth, he leads fourth quarter comebacks in spite of his smarts, not because of them. Most of his potential is his strong arm, and yet that doesn't help him at all, even alluding back to college, the thing we've learned is that strong arms don't equal good quarterbacks, same regard to baseball, just because you can hit triple digits does not mean you are a good pitcher, there are techniques you must learn to put those traits to task, some of that comes from coaching, but most must come from the player himself. I'm not so sure Simms has it in him to live up to that 'potential'.

u no u actually do have a great point there. I think a lot of us get caught up with the last name including me sometimes. However He does have a great arm tho and i think with the right weapons he could be good some day not great but good.

How do you lead the team back in the 4th quarter despite his smarts?? That makes no sense.

I meant in spite of, it's been edited.

In regards to what I meant, he works best when he doesn't think.

That does not exclude his football smarts.

We're not really going to get technical with this are we? Why not broaden your scope and take on the entire post?

What football smarts?  His problem is he doesn't have any of those.  He's got the arm, the height, and a training that other QBs can only dream of, and yet he's no better than a short rookie with crap training and a small school background.  THat's a giant red flag.

Much to the staff's dismay, Simms continued to struggle with mastering the offense last offseason. Gradkowski had it down better than Simms, despite being a rook. I know people don't want to hear that, but it's the truth.
