the colts' window is shrinking - manning has several great years ahead, but they've already lost james, harrison's declining, and superstar contracts are slowly strangling the cap.  they had to make a move to shore up their biggest weakness, and booger helps them more than he helps us, so for them it was a good move.

but he's not the last missing piece, nor is he going to noticeably improve the play of his teammates like an impact player should when you cough up a 2nd-rounder for him.

i think both sides feel like their team got closer their respective goals by doing the deal, and that makes it a good trade.
