Really, Abraham is not hurt...he's trying to keep himself healthy for the next time he becomes a free agent.

Ughh, mistake. Jet's fans were telling the ATL fans about this....my bad.

You would have to think that the FO of the Falcons would've looked into this. JA hasn't played a full season now three years in a row.

Not out for the year but still a blow to that team. What's funny is Mora Jr was saying how he thought Abe would play this week. he's such an idiot when it comes to injuries. I know coaches keep it a secret but he takes to levels never thought possible. Bill B would shat himself if he saw what Mora Jr does with injuries.

Abraham has surgery; out 3 to 4 weeks

Flowery Branch – Falcons defensive end John Abraham will miss the next three to four weeks after having surgery Tuesday morning to repair a tear in a lower abdominal muscle. The injury is related to, but not solely linked to, a groin injury that has sidelined Abraham for four of Atlanta's six games, according to coach Jim Mora.

The decision for Abraham – acquired from the New York Jets in a trade and signed to a six-year, $45 million contract this offseason – to have the procedure was made Monday afternoon. On Monday morning, Mora had said at a news conference that Abraham might be able to play Sunday at Cincinnati, but would be evaluated throughout the week.

"He came in and said it was sore and wasn't getting better," Mora said Tuesday morning. "We sent him to get a second opinion to see if there was anything we could find. They saw the tear and said, 'Let's fix it.' John felt comfortable doing it now rather than waiting to go through another week and hoping it would get better. I think it gave him some peace of mind."

This will be the fourth time Abraham has had surgery in his lower abdomen/groin in his career. He had surgery to repair a torn groin when he was with the New York Jets in 2003. Abraham also said he has had two hernia operations.

Abraham initially injured his groin in the season-opener at Carolina. He sat out the next three games but returned against the New York Giants Oct. 15. During that game, Abraham told the coaches that his groin tightened up. Abraham did not practice last week or play Sunday in Atlanta's 41-38 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The speedy pass-rushing specialist and three-time Pro Bowler has three sacks in limited action. Chauncey Davis will continue to start in Abraham's place.
