I'm Chucky?
D. I trade the pick for a 30 something year old vet or two.
Yeah, because he's done that so many times right?

I don't think you are going to get a 2nd round pick to come in and do what Grant can do, not right away

You are correct.  But long term a DE at the top 2nd round will be cheaper, younger, and have greater upside long term than Grant.

Also Grant may be available next year anways so being patient with his situation may pay off.

Use the 27th pick for another DE.

Use the 27th pick for another DE.

Or take a blue chip player with the #4 pick and draft a DE with 2a.  We will have to agree to disagree on this scenario. 8)

I'm still convinced that the Bucs are not going to have a chance at either CJ or Thomas...it's fun to play the "what if" game but if you sit down and look at things have gone in the past the draft never happens that way.

Right now I stand firm that the both "desired" players are gone and the Bucs have one choice left, take Peterson or trade down (no further then 10) and draft the defensive line help you so desperately need.

I dont want Grant, he is not worthy of a 1ST pick, he had 5 sacks last season.. If it were Will Smith I would be all over it..

Grant can come here next year for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!2008 baby..

Bucs-Lightning already World Champions. Rays Next!!!

Well I'm all over 2007.  Thats the first thing.  And second he doesn't have to come here.  He will be able to get the kings ransom that DEs are getting these days. Yes the Bucs would have to pay him a prince's ransom even now, but there are some restrictions on where Grant can go.  Somebody has to trade for him.   The price will be much higher in 2008 than it will be in 2007.

I would expect the Saints to take the franchise tag off of Charles Grant after the draft.

That would make him a UFA.  You think the Saints are just going to let him walk away and not try to trade him?

Yeah, if the Saints can't find a trade for Charles Grant, it would be better for them to take the franchise tag off of him then have to pay him that kind of money.  They would probally draft a DE and they would also have Will Smith so they don't need Grant.

Sure "if" they can't find a trade they would take the tag off him.  But thats why they'll find a trade.  The only thing that could keep that from happening is Grant refusing to work out a deal with another team.   I don't think he'll play hard ball. He wants to get a contract.
