BLACKSBURG, Virginia (CNN) -- The 23-year-old English major accused of exacting a bloody rampage at Virginia Tech authored two plays so "twisted" that his classmates suspected he might be a school shooter before they knew for sure, a student said.

Ian McFarland, who said he had class with suspected shooter Cho Seung-hui, called the plays "very graphic" and "extremely disturbing."

McFarland is an employee of America Online, which has provided the writings to CNN.

"It was like something out of a nightmare," McFarland wrote in a blog. "The plays had really twisted, macabre violence that used weapons I wouldn't have even thought of.

"Before Cho got to class that day, we students were talking to each other with serious worry about whether he could be a school shooter."

A university official also said that Cho scribed writings so "disturbing" they were sent to administrators, a university official said Tuesday.

The official did not provide details about the writings, which first came to the attention of faculty in the English department, but said they were passed on to the department chairwoman and university administrators.

Cho left a long and vitriolic note in his dorm room, law enforcement sources told ABC News. It contained an explanation of his actions and states, "You caused me to do this," ABC News reported.

It also railed against "rich kids," "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In America it doesn't add inches down there to have automatic weapons.
Sounds like something a kid would say!!!

I do. My right to bear arms is protected in the same document as my right to free speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of religion. If you take one right then where does it stop? You may give your guns up willingly, but millions would not.

“Right to bear arm”  ::)  Who are you bearing them against, seriously?  That was written in a different era when it was important but in a modern civilized society it just doesn’t make sense.

Sure some would resist but if it was voted on and a law was passed most would fall inline because most people are law-abiding.  If you had a month to hand them in and get reimbursed before it became illegal to own them, you would do the right thing.

One person was killed and seven or eight more were shot in a dorm and in a classroom on the Virginia Tech campus Monday before police arrested a suspected gunman, officials told The Associated Press.

Police confirmed they had a suspect in custody, the university said on its Web site.

On the Web site, Tech confirmed the shooting at opposite ends of the 2,600-acre campus at West Ambler Johnston, a residence hall, and reported "multiple victims" at Norris Hall, an engineering building.

The university said in a news release there were multiple victims. Government officials with knowledge of the case said there were seven to eight other "casualties."

Students were asked to stay in their homes away from windows.

"There's just a lot of commotion. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on," said student Jason Anthony Smith, 19, who lives in the building where shooting took place.

The shooting was reported at West Ambler Johnston Hall.

Officials ordered the campus closed, the second time in less than a year the 26,000-student campus was shut because of a shooting.

In August 2006, the opening day of classes was canceled and the campus closed when an escaped jail inmate allegedly killed a hospital guard off campus and fled to the Tech area. A sheriff's deputy involved in the manhunt was killed on a trail just off campus.

The accused gunman, William Morva, faces capital murder charges.

I just got escorted off campus by police and I might know the dead guy, so if we could cool it with the jokes for now that'd be great.

I was lucky and was almost off campus as this went down, the rest of the people are stuck there as there may be a second shooter.

I don't live on campus so I don't think I'm in a lot of danger.  The last time when that guy killed the cop, no one knew where he was so the whole town was pretty much on lockdown.  They have one guy in custody and are trying to determine if there was only one shooter since the shootings were pretty far apart.

News reporting that 17 people have been taken to the hospital. One shooter is in custody and police and FBI are searching for a second shooter. The university is in lockdown.

Apparently there were two different shootings...one around 7:30 local time and the other around 10:00.

Details are still scetchy.
