Damn I'm so freaking pissed right now. The Danish government just robbed me and thousand of other carowners today by introducing a new law which took effect immediately. [banghead]
Cars in Denmark are heavily taxed. First you gotta pony up 180% registration fee and the on top of that an additonal 25% VAT. The cheapest car you can get in Denmark will set you back $18,100 and for that you'll get an outdated Korean car with 60 horsepower and no critical safety equipment like ESP. No A/C, no cruise control etc.
Well I just bought a brand new car this January. I paid $29,545 for a small family car with only 80 horsepower but with lots of safety equipment and a nice design. I was happy with the purchase but with the law they passed today the car is expected to drop 10-15% in price from the dealer because they are lowering the registration fee. That's nearly $3,000 to $3,500 I've thrown out the window.
Why did they pass the law you ask. Because in Denmark you only have to pay 30% registration fee for cars on yellow plates. Yellow plate cars can only transport two occupants in the front, but they are significantly cheaper because of that which alot of people has taken advantage of. So to stop that the governmet decided to increase the registration fee for yellow plate cars while reducing the registration fee for normal cars and in the process they screwed normal working class people over.
