Sanchez thew a no-hitter for the Marlins last year, and Ramirez has been a very good lead-off hitter. I think Florida got good value, but Boston still got the better end. Mike Lowell has been awesome for the Sox, and Beckett is on his way to his first of many Cy Young's.

Are any of you guys ready to admit that the Sox got the better end of that deal with Florida?

How about the Mets' John Maine. 5-0. They acquired him from Baltimore for Kris and Anna Benson and
Jorge Julio.

Mets win that trade so far.

And in response to your question ufo, the Sox gave up Hanley Ramirez and Annibal Sanchez for Beckett and Mike Lowell.

I don't know those two. Are they as obscure now as they were back then?

But wasn't Florida having a fire sale back then and wasn't it all but impossible for them
to get fair value?
