Am I the only one who thinks Rice was worth every penny of that deal?

not at all, Rice has lived up to that contract for sure. The problem with McGay's contracts are they're all heavily backloaded and if the player doesn't restructure then it kills your cap.

Keeping Rice here? Good Move.

Paying him more than any other Defensive player? Not so much.

Exactly. His contract and Booger's cost us Warren Sapp. Sapp had 10 sacks last season on the #3 ranked D in the league. Sapp should have remained a Buc forever. The Bucs D would have not dropped out of the top ten. JMO.

After 2002 Rice deserved that contract.

The combination of Rice and Sapp should have never been disrupted.
McKay's contracts strangled our team. Bruce Allen has corrected that problem and '07 is the last year anything McKay did effects the Bucs. Things are looking up.

Allen may have distanced the Bucs from those contracts, but unfortunately the team doesn't have any players worth an extravagant contract right now.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

And that is in part because of those contracts - not enough money to bring in oyunger FAs.  As well as the questionable  trading of picks.

Simeon was definitely worth every penny. People shouldn't compare Sim, a future Buc Hall of Famer, to the likes of average players like Key and Vick.

CAN WE PLEASE FORGET ABOUT RICH MCKAY!?!?!

You guys sound like jilted boyfriends (or in some cases, girlfriends).

IT HAS BEEN YEARS! GET OVER IT!

part of the issue is that it has TAKEN the bucs years to outgrow the financial mess rich left the bucs in. sure it has been 4 years, but its just now that the bucs have found themselves clear of most of rich's contracts.

and the further point is the "rich" contracts that rich has given other mediocre players (vick, mughelli).

its not unfair for 'buc fan' to wallow over the mckay era .. sure he's been gone, but the effects have persisted till now. if we lament him 5 years from now, then its probably just hating. but until this year, its reasonable, yes?

looking ahead, i salivate at the thought of him desecrating the ATL franchise with ridiculous contracts.

To add what should be more than a foot note...HE DESERTED US MID-SEASON FOR THE HATED DIVISION RIVAL FALCONS!!!!!!!!

*itch McKay will and should be hated forever by most in Tampa, if only for this reason...not the contracts.

if you didn't like ritch then you should be happy to ship him off to the ATL, even if it was midseason. go let him ruin a division rival -- i'm all for that. i, for one, was happy ritch went to ATL. i hope he goes to NO next.

I hope these threads keep coming.  Until the day that the fishwraps decide to write 1 bad thing about McKay, its our duty to point out MmmmGays Flaws as a GM.
