We're thinking about getting a new TV for our basement. The think is, I don't know jack crap about TV's.

The TV will be used pretty much mostly by me and my friends to play video games and to watch football/baseball/basketball games and stuff like that. Pretty much any of the following fit in our budget, but which one is best for those uses? I'm willing to sacrifice a little picture quality for a little bigger TV, if that helps at all.

Also, if you know of a TV similar to the ones below but a better deal (or TV for a similar price) please let me know.

Thanks

The following few caught my attention, we're looking for something like this but I haven't looked into it thoroughly yet.

51" rear projection. 1080i. $713.99

Similar to one above

LCD rear projection. 50", a little more expensive

This one is my favorite, and coincidentally the most expensive.

Would those be good TV's for the uses I described? Which one is best? Are those good deals? Do you know where I could get a better deal? Thanks.

I saw it was 1080i but also a rear projection. You say the picture will be good? It's very cheap, is the quality ok?

is it a true 1080i though. Some say 1080 but reall aren't. The best picture is 1080p so size doesn't always mean best.A big screen with a bad image is horrible

We had a good thread about this a few weeks back when I was in the market.  I'll try and dig it up for you.

Brotha, for less than $2,000 you can get a Sammy(Samsung) 1080p set with 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, (DLP-The future of True HDTV's), that is by far the best TV for the money, and then move your living room TV to the basement.

Matter of fact, my buddy works for a certain Sound Advice in Pinellas County (PM for which one) and he's braggin' about how he just bought a $20,000 projection HDTV for $2,000 last week...so really you need to shop around...sure you can buy a HDTV at Wall Mart, but for a G more you can get an unheard of deal from a certain new friend of yours.

Let me know brotha, I can help you.

There is no such thing as a TV less than 50" with 1080p....reason why is to the human eye the pixels are so small at say 48" you can't tell the difference from 1080i or 1080p, so manufactuers don't even make them less than 50"....50"+ is the only TRUE 1080p HDTV you'll buy...anything under 50" is a bull**CENSORED** "Bait 'n Switch" scam, don't be fooled.
