Today, the Saints released their kick returner Michael Lewis.  Lewis was a beer truck driver before the Saints signed him to be their KR.  Although Lewis is old at 36, I wouldn't mind the Bucs bringing him in for a visit because we do need help at KR and Lewis is a great kick and punt returner scoring 4 touchdowns off of returns in his 7 year NFL career.  Lewis may be past his prime, but he would be a good option for the Bucs and we could get him for a veteran minimum contract.  I don't know too much about him, but do you think the Bucs should consider signing him?

NO... he's too old and there are better options than him. Lewis is a one-trick pony as he can only kick return....we have his clone and younger version on the roster in mark jones.

because ....

Receiving 2005 ZERO CATCHES, ZERO YARDS; 2006 ZERO CATCHES, ZERO YARDS
Punt Return 2005 2 yard avg...say what?; 2006 6.9 yard avg.
Kick Return 2005 17 yard avg; 2006 24.7 yard avg.

Everyone has been all over Mark Jones and his poor ST play, AND he still has topped Lewis's over the past 2 years - in both phases Kick and Punt Return [KR 2005 19 yd avg; 2006 29 yd avg, PR 2005 9.6; 7.8].

It's the case of another guy released that WOULD NOT make this team better.  ---- PASS

Yeah, Jones and Lewis stink and let's replace both of them with someone who can see the field for anything else.

All posts are opinions in case you are too stupid to figure that out on your own without me saying it over and over.

Here is a great idea for the KR game.  Get a really good defense so you only use the KR 2-3 times a game

OR we could bring Mel Gray or Vai Sikahema out of retirement.

I guess you guys are right about Michael Lewis.  He is probally too old to make a big impact with the Bucs and his best years are behind him since he hasn't been that productive for the past two seasons.  I wonder if he still wants to play anyway.

Not sure why people are wondering if he has enough "gas in the tank"; last year was one of his best, even after coming back from injury.  And he's certainly better than anything we put on the field last year.  People talk about his age, but his body has very limited wear-and-tear from the NFL.  Definitely worth a look, IMO.
