Tank Johnson had abodyguard and he's now dead.

Pacman always seems to have group with him.

However, don't see one with Brooks, Carnell, Simms, Simeon, Barber and I could name a lot more Bucs.

I'm sure there are many players that don't have one.

But why is it needed?

Those that have one seem to get into more trouble than those who don't.
(Pacman, T. Johnson, Caruth, Lewis Henry)

Why does it SEEM to be only minorities?

Anyone have any answers?

My guess is that they know they're probably in deep s*** with someone who has their number, so they need their posse to help when fights break out...it's like they're preparing for this stuff to happen.

the entourage is usually deadbeat friends that are free loading off of the one that made it.

it seems to be minorities more because so many people in pro sports come by way of the projects/ghetto/whatever, so they've got a lot of friends that wont make anything of themselves.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Those with a posse get what they give, so in other words, if you look for trouble that's what you'll find.

Brooks, Caddy, Simeon, etc. probably aren't spending the early morning hours in strip clubs.  If you don't go places that require bodyguards you probably won't have any.

I've seen Sapp and Keyshawn in clubs in Tampa, with bodyguards

MY Father in Law was in the secret service for 20 years and retired and worked as a bodyguard mostly in the diamond industry and even worked 5 years for Donald Trump, and there is a differance between a real bodyguard trained as such and some fat guy who you grew up with that will lay someone out for looking at you the wrong way, and those are the ones that can get you in trouble, because they guy he just laid out may have a gun, or 20 buddies in the club and that is where the trouble starts.
Sapp and Keyshawn were visable athletes and rubbed many people the wrong way, from fans to shock jocks so hiring a bodyguard is understandable for certain althetes IMO.

I was in a club in Ybor back in the day and Pete Sampras was there with two friends and two guys that were obviously hired help. He was bombed and when he became sloppy (stumbling and spilling his drink) the bodygaurds picked him up and escorted him out of the bar. The difference is he hired pros to babysit him and pacman "rolls" with the loser hangers on that he grew up with. It has zero to do with the color of the skin and 100% to do with where and how they grew up.  If you really are interested in understanding the gang culture and how difficult it is to leave behind there are a lot of good books on the topic. If on the other hand you're looking to push a racist opinion then have at it.

Get a grip on what it means to be a racist first off. I don't think Uncle Stan hates all minorities because of the color of their skin....which is what a racist is. A person who hates someone because of their race. Asking why certain situations seem to happen to a minority group a lot of the time, isn't being racist. Get a clue.

First, I never accused anyone of being racist just said if that's what they want to foster that's up to them. Second you don't have to hate anyone to be a racist. A racist is someone that believes the inherent differences in the races makes one race superior (better) to another. The one needing a clue would seem to be you.

Lets put an end to these "racist" remarks.

I am far far far from being a racist.

I even capitalized the word "seem".

No racist intent was meant. If it appears that way, I apologize.

No one called anyone a racist, nor is anyone a racist here.

Jesus, it's like an elementary school in here. :P

Reminds me of the saying "You''re more likely to get shot if you carry a gun."
