is it always better to take best player available over a position of need?


i believe so unless you have a franchise qb and the best available player is a qb

Lets say the Bucs have the number 1 pick last year.

Do they take Reggie Bush?  Vince Young? Mario?

I think they would have traded down, and gotten two for one.

If not, I think they take Reggie Bush.

I agree... It depends on what is available... If it's an elite player... BPA... if not... I say trade down, or take your need...

I think you identify three or four positions of need and draft the best player from those three or four.   The Bucs have holes to fill and they will fill them if they can, but they won't target just one position.

Not exactly... You'd be stupid to pass on a player like that... But if you can trade down for a REALLY good deal... you should do it that way... Like a 1st, a 2nd and a 1st next year (which is what I think Bush would be worth trading down for)
