I wanted to drop this public service announcement to a few unsuspecting victims of the Xbox 360's red fire of death.

I was just flipping through my latest Consumer Reports and under the recalls section their is a notice on the Xbox 360.  "As a result of what Microsoft viewed as an unacceptable number of repairs to Xbox 360 consoles, the company is extending the terms of the Xbox 360 warranty to three years fro certain general harware failures shich are indicated by three flashing red lights on the console"  They will also offer free shipping for products that require repair or replacement because of the hardware failure.  This applies to both new and existing customers. 

Damn in gets better.
"In addition, Microsoft will retroactively reimburse out-of-warranty repair costs paid by customers for console problems indicated by the three flashing red lights.  For additional and updated information go to www.xbox.com or call Xbox customer service at 800-469-9269"

Play it flat, make sure there is enough space UNDER it to breathe as well, get a intercooler, somerthing to assist in keeping the damn thing cool, and above all, DONT PLAY IT FOR NINE STRAIGHT HOURS YOU LOSERS!

I know 8-10 folks with the 360 and none have this issue so I don't know what setup people have or if this is a generational issue with the system.

Never-the-less, I just have mine propped up on 4 soda bottle capsso air can get under it. Seems to work just fine.

I like the bottle cap idea, right now I am using coasters, but the cap takes up less space, so I will be going to buy some bottled pepsi tomorrow.  Thanks Dal!

And play the thing flat, I heard it is less likely to scratch your discs that way.  Almost everyone reccommends it to be used that way, except the guys who need it to be upright for aesthetic reasons...like my idiot lil bro.  He has had two or three games crap the bed.  Methinks it is the uprightedness of his system doing it.  Plus he stamps his feet when he screws up...

I have been looking for this laptop fan that they sell in various outlets.  Costs about 30 bucks, but you lay your box on it flat, and it fits like a glove.

The intercooler voids your warranty?  Why?  Because it replaces the OG power outlet?

I have an Intec fan stand type thing. It seems to work pretty well...my system doesn't seem to get too hot. I keep it out on the floor too so it has plenty of ventilation in all other areas.

I am probably mistaken about the intercooler thing. I heard that but I think it makes more sense that the one you put in your system voids the warranty, not the "intercooler."

Plus I run an air purifier next to mine when I play it, and when I don't, just to keep it "dust free".
