The Bucs won't keep a QB who can't go on the field as their 3rd QB.

Many were critical of Gru-Allen for having so many Qbs on the roster. Now we see why.   As far as Chris Sims saying,

"I'm not going to go anywhere else until I feel like I am ready to play again and to feel like the old Chris Simms again." -----

I was hoping that we'd never see the old "deer-in-headlights" "blocked pass" Simms ever again - was there an old Chris Simms that I missed?  I think we've given him ample opportunity to prove himself as a starting QB. Its just not working out and time to move on. Good Luck elsewhere, Chris Simms.

Boy, I wish Chris Simms all the best. Maybe next year he can be healthy and catch on somewhere.

Honestly who's going to sign him? It's not like we are deep in QB talent and he can't even beat out Gradkowski for the 3rd string postion here.

Who knows.  IT is always the one mans garbage is another mans treasure saying that gets me...

I think the mystery as to why Simms re-signed with the Buccs instead of testing FA is now revealed. He knew all along he might not be ready for the 2007 season and he took the money and ran.
Very good point.

Even that isn't so much of a mystery if you would have actually read the insider articles on the subject.

Some of this has been brought on by the Buc's themselves..but they have had some
pretty rotten luck on QB's. Griese went down midseason, McCown out for the season,
Simms loses a spleen..and a qb they trade for decides to retire in his prime. It would
be nice if McCown turns out to be a long term answer..or as mentioned they use an
early pick next year.

What are the ramifications (if any) of puting him on IR before the regular season starts?

Chris Simms needs to focus on being a NEW Chris Simms, not back to the old one.

Maybe he is thinking that Gruden won't be here next season, maybe Mike thinks that too, so sitting out and getting healthy and give it another shot with another coach. Just a thought. Maybe its worth a caculated risk, Simms knows someone will pick him up next season if Gruden does stay, but maybe he likes it here.

If he's cut it's unlikely he'll be signed by any team because he really can't play right now. So there's no calculated risk. It's what's going to happen.
