Quotes not working so:

From Curt 1995:"Read the Phil press when Reid was 5-6 last year. It was brutal, and Reid is many times the level of Gruden as a coach and personnel man.

Gruden went 4-12, he is getting treated accordingly, no more, no less. "

Many times the man? You refer to his weight? Last Lombardi chec is Gruden 1 Reid 0. Sorry troll, try again

From UMGuy199:

"Do you really think Gruden gets any more negative press than any other HC in the NFL with a losing record?
Do you think people would be bashing him if we won the SB, Dungy got negative stories with a winning record, no not as many as Gruden is getting, but how many 5-11 and 4-12 seasons did Dungy have?. If we had had 14-2, 10-6, 11-5,12-4, and 10-6, there would not be so many local writers bashing him.

Have you not been a sports fan long, were you not here for the Vinny or even Dilfer days? I guess they can write about what a great coach he is and defend him for the losing season, and everytime they say something negative they can go over the draft picks he didn't have or the QB's he had or didn't have, and make excuses for the 4-12 season. I also guess the 11 News could just do stories about feeding the homeless, and run a photo essay of puppies, babies and baloons.

When you go 4-12 there is no way the Media is going to lay off and if you expect heartwarming stories or "This player who never took a snap in the NFL is on his way to the HOF" articles, then cancel your subscriptions NOW, to SI, ESPN, Times, Trib, etc... and go ahead and ask Jim or Scott to black out any of the negative things they do say about Gruden (the few).
We are a 4-12 team, and Gruden is getting treated like the coach of a 4-12 team. Having said that I don't even know who Bianchi is and I didn't read what he wrote."

Actually at THIS board, most of us HAVE been around (unlike you it seems). The local hack's crapfest on Gruden started the instant there was trouble between him and McKay. Has NOTHING to do with 4-12, the knoves were out before then. Your pathetic attempt is like saying "Islamists loved america until George Bush" -- completely ignorant of the history you profess to be versed in.

That is about the most absurd thing I have ever read in here. Talk about apples to oranges you are comparing apples to Green Beans!  Lets take your quote "The local hack's crapfest on Gruden started the instant there was trouble between him and McKay"
So the going from SB Champs to 7-9 had nothing to do with it...Neither did going from SB Champs to 5-11 the season after 7-9 had nothing to do with it.  It was because of McKay, if McKay would have left and went to team with 3 years of losing records his name would not even be mentioned. You may not look at the facts in simple terms like the Media does, but they all do it from ESPN, to NFL net etc. etc. etc. With McKay we won a SB, so in simple terms we were a better team with him than with Allen, and since Gruden does have so much power and the lack of checks and balances make him an easy target and a reasonable person could be justification for the way they go after him. If we were a good team and they still rode him, then it would be a valid argument that they were "picking on him" which is what you seem to imply.
I suppose the NY or Philly Media would have been cheering their coach coming of a 4-12 season, If Gruden can't handle the Simms questons he would all but have a panic attack if he were a coach there.. As far as being ignorant to history, there was not exactly praise for Dungy who never went 5-11 or 4-12, he would have been crucified if he had a 4-12 season.
You can live in La La land and think they they press is picking on poor little Gruden, but don't expect that to change without at least a winning season.

Gruden may be a better coach on gameday, but Reid is the better program builder, and that's not even arguable.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

The writer says negative things because Gruden is an overall losing coach the last 4 years.  No one cares about whether or not he is good to the media.  Belichick is terrible with the media.  Shanahan lies to the media about injuries.

When Gruden wins, he will get praise.  In fact, Gruden was about as praised a coach as there was until 2003.  4-12 coaches who lose 3 of the last 4 years do not get praise.  There is no agenda, just wins and losses.  Welcome to the real world.
