Luke McCown has had a very good camp and has played well in the preseason. At the same time, Bruce Gradkowski has played well and a case could be made that given his experience playing last year and the fact that he has engineered a couple of nice scoring drives that he should be the backup. At this point, I give a slight advantage to Bruce, but I think Gruden will want to see what they do in the final preseason game.

I originally thought Luke had the inside track, but at this point I don't know that there is a significant difference between him and Grads.

That's true, and both hold the ball too long.  I guess I still give Luke the edge.

I originally thought Luke had the inside track, but at this point I don't know that there is a significant difference between him and Grads.

I think if that is the case, Grads has the edge. He has more experience, but as DetroitBuc mentioned, his inability to throw the deep ball is a concern. The best case scenario would be to have the backup be a non-issue. Garcia needs to stay healthy, and if the O-line gives him time to pass, he shouldn't NEED to run. I can't wait to get to see the first team offense get a full game behind them. It has the potential to be vastly improved. I do think that there needs to be a healthy balance between passing and running the ball.

I'm still confused, was that an INT or did he strip the ball?

I would have to after the last two weeks. I think Grads has a leg up after tonight though. I guess time will tell.

Well all that being said...In gruden's offense you dont really need a rocket arm for a qb. Garcia has it all but he cant be relied on so heavily in case he goes down. If grad can master the 20 yd-25-30 yard bombs then he should be fine.
