If you watched the Bucs-Dolphins pre-game show on NewsChannel 8, you made have heard Doug Graber mention the fact that Derrick Brooks is playing a "new position" on the strongside of the defense over the tight end. The Tampa Tribune also mentioned this last week, suggesting that Brooks is not playing the Will linebacker spot anymore.

Pewter Report knew these reports were inaccurate due to the fact that Brooks has always played over the tight end as the weakside linebacker in the Bucs' "Over" alignment. Brooks does play away from the tight end in Tampa Bay's "Under" defense. Pewter Report even illustrated these formations in our July Training Camp Issue.

Today, Pewter Report spoke with Bucs linebackers coach Gus Bradley, who confirmed that Brooks is not playin the Sam linebacker spot, despite the recent media reports that suggest that he is. You can read Bradley's comments by clicking here: http://www.pewterreport.com/articles/view/3268

You can also click on the Download Podcast button at the top of the article to download a graphic that illustrates the alignment of the Will linebacker in the 4-3 "Over" and 4-3 "Under" fronts.
