But he didn't quite put that team together

match the 2001 roster with the 2002 roster... the difference is sizeable.

Sorry M~J~S we're on different sides on this - take heart.

And sorry to ruin the little anti gruden rant filled thread being foisted as a loser-ville pitty party.

Nothing wrong with questioning FO mistakes, also nothing wrong with stating that these guys have been trying to get by with less access to talent than their competitors - in arguably the most comeptitive sports league.

7 fewer first day Draft Picks and bottom of the barrell Free Agent money due to cap issues.

Sure we reached when we had draft picks - everyone does, every year.

Our's were more evident because we were so thin.

Look what was done this year - the talent is everywhere.

and the only goal is improvement

Must be really frustrating as an AGDC...

Gruden made some nice additions in FA his first year, and coach the team perfectly all the way to the SB, so one doubts that.

Would he have sniffed the SB in Tampa without the defense he inherited or Monty?   Has the team improved year on year since his arrival?

The SB is a longtime ago now and it should have zero bearings on judging the managements performance last year, or next year.

Just responding to the post that Gruden brought no one in here.

As for what Gru would have done without the D?  By this, you are also implying, like the other poster, that Gru won with Dungy's team, which continues to be a stupid argument.

The Super Bowl was incredible.  But he didn't quite put that team together.  He is starting to look like a one hit wonder.  But a hell of a hit.

His additions and coaching are the only reason that team wasn't beaten in the first round of the play-offs...again.

and if he's a one hit wonder I'm down with that

know how many NFL fans in Cincinnatti, New Orleans, San Diego, etc... would LOVE to have ONE hit...or even a SWING?

MJS, stop making valid points.  Some of the cheerleaders on here cant deal with the truth.

"there are no medals here for who can stay at the office the longest," said Jagodzinski. "I'm not into that. The guys that brag about working till 2 in the morning, in my opinion, they're just not smart enough. "

18,2,25,13 ... murderers row?

I support coach Calhoun and his salary

There is a lot of "pathetic" around MJ.  I come here trying to read the objectivity you speak of.  Sadly, it is filled with so much hatred, that it takes forever to find something worthwhile.

This board is fairly pro-Gruden and very objective.

ICIT

There are points of "validity" on both sides.

Not being able to stand behind your convictions is pathetic.

I am for the team - as I have said many times - I was for Dungy until they escorted him to his car.

Gruden is the team right now. Question all you want.

Just don't show signs that you've given up - or lost heart in this team.

**thunderous applause**

Personally, I don't care who the coach is.... i just want to win. I want to see improvement and production, not the same excuses season after season after season.

Its time for the current front office to "ish" or get off the pot.  The Superbowl victory was one of the greatest days of my life but it seems like ages ago. We can't allow that to cloud our view of where our team sits currently.

The boards never railed on Dungy like they have on Gruden...never.  And as much as I love Tony, he was just as stubborn about some things as Gruden is.  Dungy was hell-bent on refusing to bring in a legit OC.  The closest thing he got to one was Les Steckel, who actually has the offense "producing".  He was promptly dismissed after 1 season.

I am objective enough to see faults in both regimes.  But half of the current one is the one that put the trophy in the case.
