Counting his passing only, on third down he's 31 of 57 for 291, averaging 9.4 yards per completion and converting just about half of those into 1st downs (49%) and he's thrown 4 TD's and 0 INT's on third down for a passer rating of 92.1.

Those numbers seem pretty high.   :o

Interesting tidbit on third down passer rating in the Trib, apparently Bruce leads the league. 92.6 or somesuch.

Anyone know his thrid down rating before last week and the two long TD's ?

Sure, it's easy to rack up 2 yard completions on 3rd and 8.  And that's not a knock against Grads.

It was pretty good. I was looking at these statistics last week sometime and he was in the 90s. I don't think his TD passes came on 3rd down anyhow, did they?

I am not disputing them, just a little shocked they are so high.  BTW - he also has a TD pass on 4th down.

Actually it's 9th in the league on third, my misread.  Still high for a rookie QB.  Skewed by 2 long TD on third but still high.

I am suprised as well.  I did not expect these numbers to be this high considering he is a rookie.  With that said I think this number will come back to down to earth as the season progresses as well as his TD/INT ratio.  If he finishes the season with these numbers I would be really suprised.

Avg 9+ yds on third down and completing half of those for firsts is a good sign considering he's a rookie. It would mean that he's not always dumping it off for a yard or two on third downs as some have suggested.
