Two things I know to be true.
#1. Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen are doing everything within their power to make this franchise competitive.
#2. BornaBuc is doing everything he can to undermine them.

Gruden stood there and said we'd be going with who we have backing up Caddy and that Penn and AD would get their chance to step up and show what they were made of. Yet, there are multiple reports that say that Allen was on the phone frantically calling around to several teams looking to play "lets make a deal" for not just a running back but a running back and LT. Nevermind that we have capable backups who have worked their butts off, instead lets show the whole team just what this season's about...SAVE MY JOB at all costs!!!

Even if every single report and speculation out there is true (which I highly doubt - I am sure some are true, but certainly not all), where does that make anything Gruden said about Davis, Graham, Penn, and Pittman getting a chance to step up and show what they are made of a lie?  Unless we are trading 1st round picks for the likes of Tomlinson, Westbrook, Ugoh, or Light, then all we are doing is addressing depth which we desperately need to do after losing two starters to season-ending injuries.  Absolutely nobody that has been mentioned in any of the reports that I have seen would come in here, digest the playbook and in some cases get into playing shape and be the starter in time for the game at Indy.  That means that everyone mentioned by Gruden gets exactly what he said, an opportunity to step up and show us what they are made of.  Maybe you would prefer Gruden and Allen to just sit on their hands and not address the sudden need for depth at two critical positions on our team.

It has become increasingly clear that there is not anything at all that either Gruden or Allen can ever do that will satisfy you.  You absolutely want to be perpetually pissed off at them and will dig and search until you can find something to complain about even if you have to make yourself look totally ignorant in the process. 

The front office (i.e. Allen) absolutely should be exploring every possible avenue to bring in players to fill the vacancies created by these injuries.  Ultimately, it might work out better to bring up someone from the practice squad to fill each hole, but we need to at least look at the other options first.  If we have the ability to bring in a role-player that can fill a need for little or no compensation, then we need to seriously consider that instead of just grabbing a guy off of the practice squad.  The guy on the practice squad will still be there later if we need him, the option to trade for someone goes away in less than two weeks.

The coach (i.e. Gruden) absolutely should be expressing confidence in the guys he has on the team.  He needs them to believe that he has faith in them because in the end, they might end up being his only option and if the coach burns the bridge right away by saying the we are going to do everything possible to get someone else in here because the guys we have just can't cut it, then they (and most likely the rest of the team will give up on him just as he gave up on them).  Those guys, however,  are also expecting the coach and front office to do everything possible to put them in the best position to win week in and week out, and they know that includes finding the best possible players to fill those losses, even if it means that new player might end up being good enough to take plays away from them or ultimately take their starting job.

In this specific instance everything the Coach and GM have done appears to be exactly correct for the circumstance.  Nothing the Coach has said has been a lie, it hasn't even been the least bit misleading.  You need to pull your head out of your fourth point of contact and take your blinders off; you are missing a pretty good season so far, a season made possible in large part because both the GM and Coach have corrected some of their previous mistakes (not all of them, but some).

Newsflash.........He's already saved his job.  Second- Those headsets that they have on during games don't give him the ability to make calls to agents.    The folks we have will be the starters until they get injured or we find someone better.  Even if we acquired somebody, do you think they would be ready for next week?

Again, we were on the phone looking for a starting running back during the game. Maybe you are just choosing to see it the way you want to see it. I see it as another lie. I don't see it as Gruden trying to make the team better with 2 open spots, I see it as desperation to save his job. Maybe if I saw it your way I'd be happy that he at least cares enough to try to do everything he has to do to save his job. I just personally don't care at this point.

I am glad we have a GM and Coach that will do whatever it takes to improve the team.  However, still being frugal in their approach.  This team would have been better with an $80million FA acquisition like Clemens or Stallworth or Welker or retaining white or Mahan, but we were prudent in the way we spend this offseason.

If you take everything this literally you must be pretty sensitive.  By the way....how's Ruud doing there bud?

As of right now, Pittman and Graham are our running backs. We have not traded for Moore, Taylor, Turner or anyone else. You can argue all you want about which press conference it was, but until we actually do make a trade theres really no argument. Pitt and Graham are STILL our runningbacks.

And if/when we trade for another runningback who's to say that the starters won't STILL be Pitt and Graham? We picked up your boy Trotter. Inactive list every week. He's just real nice depth right now.

And I realize this could all change by the end of the day. We could trade for Chester Taylor or co. and they could be pronounced starting rb, but until that happens there's no point in complaining or arguing.

Pornobuc - we had how many RB's and tackles when the season started? Now that we have lost one at each position, we don't need to replace them? My truck has four tires that touch the ground.
