Does.t McCown have to sit 6 games out before he comes off PUP?  Rattboy is the back up for two or three games at least.

As I see it, when McCown comes back, the question will be whether to cut Rattay or put Simms on IR.  Speaking of roster spots, whatever happened to the notion that we would be picking Boston back up once DJ was active again?  Any ideas if this is still in the works?  Maybe after Economos is cut?

Unless Grad's goes down, McCown is out until prolly week 9.  ANd at that point he only plays is Grads looks like a bust. Why?
Bruce is it for 2 games (more like 3, but technically 2) before McCown has a chance, so we have 4 potential scenarios:
1) He wins 2, which kinda locks him as Gru won't change at that point
2) He splits, or loses 2 and sucks.  At that point we are 0-5, so no rush to get Luke in, let the guy heal fully.
3) He splits or loses 2 and looks good, which locks him again; 0-5 and may as well develop him.
4) Rattay will only start if Grads goes down, which means we are likely 0-5 so again no rush on luke.

I have no expectation of Rattay doing anything other than sucking, so there is no "Rattay wins the job" scenario.

Rattay was good for a 7th round draft pick, but as a starting QB in the NFL, never.

I'm not sure why anyone thinks McCown is gonna ride in and steal the show. Last year, he faced the same scrub level competition Grads did, 3rd and 4th stringers in pre-season. He hit 64%, 2 TD: 2 INT sacked 7 times in 34 attempts.

Gradkowski was 73%, 5:3 TD:INT, sacked 3 times on 61 attempts.

Worse McCown hit for 261 yards, Grad for 511. McCown got his comp % dumping the ball off for < 10 ypc while Grad got a higher% on comparatively longer throws....both in their first year in this system and in Grads case fewer years in the NFL.

McCown is nothing too. He's better than Rattay and actually played a little of the regular season in Cleveland in 2004, but we need more than just Grads for a backup.
