I just read that he recently triggered a clause in his contract that voided the final years of his contract and makes him a FA after this season. His agent started negotiating with the Chiefs already but said "they aren't even close" as far as the terms. He will probably resign with the Chiefs, but if not would you guys want him here. I would, with Moore old as dirt and Jolley nothing to talk about I think he and Smith would form a good tandem next year.

We need players in their prime, not vets at the end of their careers.

No thanks. If we were looking at contending for a SB next year, that would be one thing. But since we are rebuiling, we need talented guys in their prime, not twilight.

Why would we want to add the best Tight End in the league over the last 10 years, a probably future hall of famer? The fresh faced crew we have now is tearing it up; they don't need a talented, veteran leader. No one over 30 please.

If the contract was right I wouldn't be opposed to it at all. Besides Smith, who seems to have forgotten how to catch, we don't really have anything as far as TE's go. I realize Gonzalez would only be a 2-4 year option but it's better than nothing. It won't happen, I just thought I would throw the idea out there.

Gonzalez would command so much money that we could get two good players for the price we'd have to pay to get him here.

He is having a good year after a slow start...
Would not mind seeing him here. He is a sure handed receiver, a good blocking TE, and runs decent routes with some speed.
But alas, he will demand the jack, and he won't get it in Tampa in his twilight years...not if Gruden has learned from his past errs.
