Rich Rod to Michigan?

Anyone who knows UF football knows that was Leak's team.  Tebow made some nice plays but they would have been doomed without Leak.  How do I know?  Track record of Freshman QB in SEC play is not good.  I think if you ask Tebow he would be the first to say he was NOT ready last year to play full time.  You just don't step in with his limited reps and win a NC with that schedule.  Not going to happen.  UF didn't spend all off season tweaking Tebow's delivery for nothing.  UF would not have survived last year with Tebow at the helm.  I am the biggest Tebow fan but seriously, he was a role player last year and nothing more.  Granted he was superb in his role, but reality is Leak was the leader and without him that team would not have won a MNC.

its a ridiculous argument, but after seeing what tebow did as a soph i believe he couldve played well as a freshman.  i also think that just because one plays QB that he is the leader.

Big difference between playing as a Soph with a year and a half in the system and playing as  freshmen with a half of a year.  Even Urban said Tebow could only play limited packages because he didn't know the system last year. 

If he was able to lead the team better than Leak last year he would have been in there.  Urban has no problem playing young guys provided they have shown the ability to do it. 

And no, being the QB alone doesn't make one a leader but ask most any player last year who the leader of that team was and they will say Leak.

I think tommy bowden might be a good replacement. He played and grew up in Mo'town and has apparently had an itch to get back in to coaching.

What a story that would be - he would play auburn in his first home game...

You think?  Man why would he want to get back into coaching after having easy up in the booth for so long.

at any rate, it was rumored he wanted back into coaching, which is why he signed on as an "advisor" for FSU.  I'm guessing he was hoping for the inside track to the FSU job, who knows.  Now that it is out the door (thank GOD to Jimbo!) I wonder if he might be interested in a gig at WVU.  Who knows,

Why wouldn't Pryor follow him to Michigan? Michigan doesn't have the QB to run Rod's offense and Pryor COULD start from day one...but that's a big COULD.

Mallett can't run the spread offense. He is a pocket passer.

They could do a TT spread offense

Mallett is not a good runner, bossman...no where near Tebow.

Cam is the backup because he was here in the Spring as an EE while Brantley wasn't.  That is why Brantley got the RS.  It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Brantley be the backup next year.

It would surprise me.

I know Brantley was rated higher coming out of high school, but I think Cam has showed that he is GREAT for this offense.

Not all QB's who are rated higher coming out of HS are better...see Brock Berlin and Rex Grossman.

Prepare to be shocked.

Pryor would probably start at Michigan his freshman year, regardless of how poor of a passer he is.

Maybe WVU can get a coach that will team the team how to play D.  That team should have won a NC by now with the O they got.  They just need a little more balance.

I worry that WVU will now try and take Mullen from UF.

If so, great for him bad for UF.  I'll be happy for him though. Every coach deserves a shot to be "the guy."

I have heard UF Coach Doc Holliday is the leading candidate to replace RR.  I sure hope not, he is one of UF's biggest recruiters.

I didn't know that.  I know their D was better then last year when they played USF but I didn't think top 10.  I think that has more to do with the people they played though.  An OOC lineup of Wester Michigan, Marshall, Maryland, East Carolina, and Mississippi State isn't exactly a tough task.  This is the reason why everybody was calling them overrated and they proved it when they played Pitt.  Untill they set up a tougher OOC lineup they will be looked down upon by the SEC and other confrences.
