http://www.nj.com/columns/times/eckel/index.ssf?/base/columns-0/1164085651294480.xml&coll=5&thispage=4 Reid and McNabb are gone, so who's the coach and who's the quarterback?
There are rumblings and reports out of Tampa that Jon Gru den is testing the waters for another job.
Bring him back. In a hurry.
Gruden and Reid come from the same school, except that while Reid majored in even keel, Gruden took up emotion. Maybe, this Eagles team needs some of that. Oh yeah, Gruden also won a Super Bowl.
Next is to find a quarterback. The team could select one in the draft, and may do that even if they don't do anything else. It is time to get a young quarterback on the roster.
That's not the answer, not for this story.
After you hire Gruden to replace Reid, get him to call his old pal Rich McKay, the general manager in Atlanta, and see what it will take to acquire Matt Schaub, who grew up in West Chester and is stuck behind Mike Vick.
The Falcons are going to want a first-rounder. Offer a second and anyone on the team not named Brian Westbrook.
If you think Reid and McNabb can get it back and the Eagles can build another team that can get to the Super Bowl, ignore this.
If not, then say good-bye and thank you to Reid and McNabb and welcome Gruden and Schaub to the future of Eagles football. "
