Wilder was a beast! Don't know how that guy just didn't collapse on the field from exhaustion after that season that Prefer referenced. He was the offense and had some huge games. Definitely should be in Bucs Wall of Fame as he earned every bit of it! Ahh, those were the days.

In todays landscape that would be an elite back without question. That shows a commient from the coaching staff that they wanted to run the ball and run it at will.

In Football, RESPECT is never given freely by your opponent. It must be TAKEN from them...VIOLENTLY

Great players cost a lot of money but help win games. High-priced players - a byproduct of poorly run front offices with bad scouting departments - only cost a lot of money.

I just watched an old tape of a Bucs vs. Bears game from 1985.    I know Walter Payton goes down in history as the best back ever.    But after watching him play again in comparison to Payton, I think James Wilder was every bit as good as Payton - if not better.    Wilder was the best back we've ever had.   He puts Caddy to shame in my opinion.   It's unfortunate he played on some horrible Buc teams so he got little recognition.

I loved Wilder, and I loved Rickey Bell, and for a brief moment in time, I loved Reggie Cobb...lol

and btw, I think that if LT stays healthy, he will go down as the best RB of all time, the dude is just sick!

Java do you have that on vhs or copied to a dvd?  and if so would it be possible to maybe score a copy?  Would gladly pay you for it I was 5 back then and while i was a fan I wasn't able to see Wilders playing days mostly due to blackouts.

IMO, no question he was the best back we ever had-hands down!

I too would be interested in a copy of the Bears game.

No intelligent individual will argue with that statement.

Wilder was, no doubt, a great back.
