The Bucs seriously need to get rid of him. He shows me nothing. He continues to make bad decisions fielding punts and he currently ranks in the bottom half of the league for punt returners. That's all he does. He is a punt return specialist. If you are going to have someone who only returns punts, he better be pretty darn good. Jones is not.

Some might argue that he was in the top 10 last year. This is true, but his best return last year was a long of 31. Everyone else in the top 10 last year had a long return of at least 44 yards. I don't care if our returner averages one lest yard per return if he actually breaks one now and then. Also, Mark Jones was in the top 4 for fair catches.

I find it hard to believe that someone like Shephard or one of the other receivers we cut can't at least do what Jones is doing and also be an option in the passing game. I really hope he isn't back next year. I'd rather use that 7th receiver slot for another position. It also would allow us to keep a receiver/returner active and free up one more active roster spot for gameday.

Whoa...shiver me ****in timbers!

Get rid of Cadillac and Derrick Brooks while you're at it.

Mark Jones is a smart, efficient punt returner.  Not flashy, but smart.  He gets upfield.

Those guys are hard to find.

Jones is pretty much a waste of space and the fact that we made no effort to replace him was a mistake.

Agreed.

Mark Jones...One million returns, about a 8 yard average....waste of space.

Screw Mark Jones and any of you clowns who support him.

I am not saying Jones is horrible, but I think we can find someone on the roster (of the 52 other players) that can be at least what he is but that also can play another position and contribute besides just being ok but safe in the return game. Also, as for being smart, what do you call making a fair catch inside the 10 yard line with the nearest defender about 7-10 yards away? He's not as smart as you think. The one thing he does do is he usually doesn't put the ball on the ground.

Whoa...shiver me ****in timbers!

I was absoluteky pissed when he fair caught that one ball Kodiak.

WTF is he thinking?

He is not quick, not fast, not smart, and not eligible for anyones fan list.

Why the F is he still burning up a roster spot?

He has no jukes, no power....waste of speace.  Bring back a straight line Boston, or a mauling Fonoti.

Mark Jones has made my hate list.  Put me on that one Itchalot...

interesting, I've been really interested in this guy, he's not as fast as Ginn, but he also won't demand as high of a sleection.

what? We're talking about a solution to a problem, nobody on this current roster is going to be what Breaston could PR wise, and Karl Williams / Reggie Barlow aren't walking through that door (thank God)

jones was actually solid today.  he's isnt going to break many but he makes good decisions and runs north/south.  he wasn't the reason we lost. our d-line had no pass rush at all and our tackling was horrible.  we made mccallister look like Bo Jackson from Tecmo Bowl!!!

Agreed, I thought he was pretty solid today. Positive yards. the only mistake I saw was the fair catch at the 10 with no saits in the picture. Overall ok though.

I agree. He wasn't the reason he lost. I never said he was. I am just sick of seeing this guy who can't do anything else take a roster spot from someone who might be able to contribute. You can't tell me the Bucs can't find a WR or DB or backup RB that can't at least equal what he is doing. The problem is that the best we can hope for is a couple of avg returns and no mistakes. You said he will never break one. Well he doesn't even get good returns. He just catches it and gets his 9 yards. For someone who can't do anything else to help this team, it just pisses me off that we let someone other guys like Shephard go for him to stay.

Whoa...shiver me ****in timbers!
