CB Kelly third highest paid player?

With Kevin Carter being the highest paid player on the team in 2007, and Brian Kelly right behind him should the Bucs bring these two players back. when you consider both players made $ 5,203,361 & $ 4,436,815 million respectively should they be dumped for younger cheaper versions that can produce on the football field.
When you factor in Greg Spires salary of $ 4,972,760.
Between those there players the team had 14.5 million invested in a bunch of thirty somethings that did not produce.
Would you release all of them this off-season. Carter would not give the team any negative cap space where as Kelly and Spires would result in around 2.5 million in dead cap space in 2008, but the team would gain 12 million in useable cap space to sign players in their prime or just coming into there prime you are the GM. You make the call

Great players cost a lot of money but help win games. High-priced players - a byproduct of poorly run front offices with bad scouting departments - only cost a lot of money.

I think they should dump both KC and Spires (although I imagine they will try to retain KC at a reduced contract) and trade Kelly.

If memory serves, BK thinks he is underpaid.

Not sure even with a pay cut, and younger players brought in these three would make the roster

Kelly would make the roster and should be approached about a pay cut. Cutting him would leave us very thin at CB. I would give Carter a pay cut and bring him back for leadership more than anything else. Bon voyage Spires!

I would not cut Kelly...if you cannot trade him in the offseason, bring him to camp and let him earn a spot in our defensive backfield...perhaps he may be motivated being it his contract year, and perhaps he could be the Simeon Rice of the '08 training camp
You must be accountable for your actions!

Keep Kelly, but if you can upgrade DE and UT - usher KC and Spires into a well earned retirement.

Spires needed to go a couple years ago....Carter we should keep if he'll take a paycut, or is he supposed to make less next year anyway? Kelly I would certainly keep or trade for some value...its not like we're in cap trouble.

Spires and Carter will probably be gone...We can afford to keep Kelly and still go after some top-flight free agents. Depth at corner is critical and I really hope the Bucs spend 1 first day pick on a corner.
