At this point they are not playing for anything more than pride. Gruden has to know by now that Gradkowski will only cost him his job next year. Right now the Bucs need a reminder about how it feels to win a game. Gradkowski can't do that. We have two options and three games left. If we want to win any of them we have to try somebody other than Gradkowski. This team is lucky to have any wins at all. They need a convincing win to boost their confidence. None of the teams left on our schedule are unbeatable. They all have their weaknesses.

Rattay has never started a game on this team, with this offense, so who knows what he can do. A change in surrondings has sparked many QB careers not to mention Rattay learned from one of the best QBs to ever play the game. Hes only started on a bad bad 49ers team were he had great games and then awful games. When he filled in for Steve Young when that team was actually talented he did fairly well. He only lost his job in San Fran because they drafted Alex Smith in the first round and he was their new QB of the future. I say why not give Rattay a chance for the rest of the season and see what he can do and see if he deserves a roster spot next year. We already know what we will get from the rookie Gradkowski, so I say give Rattay a shot.

Same D that Gradkowski faced.

I like Rattay and I know he is good in real game situations but he went up against a prevent D.

He looks like he is throwing shot put. Just leave Gradkowski in there. Playing Rattay does nothing.

Exactly, let grads play! Last thing we need now is a win, we have the 3rd spot locked up!

Rattay couldn't beat out Simms, McCown, or Grads. Before the season he was the FOURTH qb on the depth chart. His contract is up this year and he's probably not coming back. Why would you want him in the game?? If anything, assuming his knee is ok, put in McCown. I'm one of those people who would rather sacrifice wins for the draft pick, BUT if McCown came in and showed promise for next year and was able to boost this team to some wins, I'd be all for it. Rattay is NOT the answer though.

Same D that Gradkowski faced.

Spot on answer right there.

How can you guys say this about Ratty. How many of you followed him in Sab Fran? Not a lot. I have followe dhim and this guy is a gamer. Hi MO in Sab Fran was that he is not a practice player. he is one of the guys who will now WOW you in practice but will be a baller come gametime. Now i think gruden is a coach who is big on looking good in practice and this is why he's not playing and was 3rd on the depth chart. Just yahoo it and look at his numbers in San Fran and i thik you will think differently seeing that the teams he was on was not that good. Look at Joey Harrington. they gave him the ax in Detriot he then goes to Miami and reels off 6 wins ans two losses as a starter and now is looking pretty good.  Ratty is a good QB he just is one of those layers that cant be judged in practice thats all. let him play and i bet you he will win some games. He a proven QB in this leauge.

Not that great, and he played for some lousy SF teams that were getting crushed.  Which means he was throwing a lot more than he was implementing a run game.

Rattay was one of those guys who was shuffled in to the lineup, and was a desperation QB...used in a desperately bad SF team.  Dorsey or Rattay?  And that was a mini-controversey, IIRC.

Rattay is not a guy who is going to lead this team, nor is he going to be around with that bloated contract.  Which he tendered on a desperate SF team.  I mean, what team wouldpay this guy his salary when he is no better than mediocre on most teams?

And looking at those numbers, and remembering his performances to the best of my memory, he doesn't look that proven to me.  Proven QBs don;t get dropped or traded away like that...

Remeber Culpepper? I think he was proven right? I think McNair was also. it happens.

Those number are with very bad tament around him and a very bad offensive line and OC.

I think we have more here to support him and he would do good. Just my opinion though i could be wrong but at least see why you traded for this guy.
Give him a chance it could be worth something. its not like he doesnt know the offense he's been in this system every since he came into the leauge. people though that Brees in his first two season was a total bust. Just giving an example. Look at Kitna in Detriot he's even playing good and Harrington in MIA. You just have to give people a chance in our system sometimes before you go judging them so quickly..

Rich Gannon couldn't get a backup spot in most rosters around the league. Gruden did pretty well with him. Not saying Rattay could duplicate that with the Bucs but anybody would be better than Gradkowski is right now. I would rather see McCown in action but that's not going to happen. I'll settle for anything even close to average.

Gruden sticks with some players way longer than he should and deprives other players of the opportunity.
