He sure is better than Plummer not being here or Grads & Simms. Garcia/Griese/McNown and a draftee on the practice squad. Goodbye to Simms & Grads

Some are already calling the move a joke! I swear the majority of our fans are prone to knee jerk reactions on EVERY move the Bucs make.

So just because Gary Kubiak wanted both Plummer and Griese the Bucs felt they needed to trade for them

It would be nice if the Bucs could turn around and get at least a late pick for Simms from some foolish team.

Bucs acquired QB Brian Griese from the Bears in exchange for an undisclosed second-day draft pick.

If the Bears get more than a seventh-rounder, we'll fall over. Griese, 33 this month, couldn't beat out Kyle Orton or Rex Grossman last year, turning the ball over 13 times in seven appearances. He knows the Bucs' offense, but will be battling with Luke McCown, Bruce Gradkowski, and possibly Chris Simms just to make the team. Jeff Garcia is locked in as the starter.

That, and after looking at the tape, Olson wanted him here.

The team shop shop his services, even if it's only for a conditional pick. At least give the guy a fighting chance in another system. Suffice it to say but Simms and Gradkowski are done here.

This proves the theory that Gruden collects quarterback just to collect quarterbacks

That was the case regardless of getting Griese

Also, by trading for him, the Bucs only have to pay a $300,000 roster bonus. Had he hit the market, he'd likely have gotten a bigger signing bonus than that -- so if he doesn't make the final roster, the won't have overly invested in him.

So is it a 2008 or 2009 second day pick?  I've seen both reported.

I was always a Griese supporter.  This is a move I actually like.  Goodbye Gradkowski!  Griese will win the back-up job over McCown.

Or we could have just not signed him...and not paid either way
