Can anyone advise why the Bucs let him go? I always liked him and he has continued to be a consistant perforer with the Seahawks. I can't remember why the Bucs didn't resign him.

As I recall he was a FA and Ruskell gave him good money to come to Seattle. We can start making moves now that we have cap space.

I think he was a victim of Booger's contract. 

Simply put, the Bucs have been unable to match the cash of other teams where FA's are concerned.

There have been a plethora (dbucfan's favorite word) of guys that Tampa Bay would have loved to sign, but the cap has been a roadblock.  Such will not be an obstruction at the end of this season.

Salary cap?  Darby signed with Seattle for peanuts.  We could have easily kept him if we wanted him.  He was the anti-Booger:  short on talent/ability and all motor.

1.3 mil is not peanuts for someone who would have been a backup DT, especially with the money to Wyms getting up there already.

That is one of the reasons why he was let go to enter free agency.  Boogers contract and Wyms made it hard to justify keeping him at the time.  With that said he looks so much better than Booger.

I didn't think Chuck was all of that.  Especially where he deserves his own thread asking why we didn't keep him.  That's like saying Muir sucks because he didn't play Stuessie at guard...and now Turnstile is tearing it up somewhere else...right...Look we know changes and things need to be made but lets not draw back to mediocre players to try and make the distinction.   [banghead]
