Bucs need to take chances on players like this given the circumstances.

Do I correctly remember him having KO return ability in his prior NFL stints?
The Bucs just need to draft somebody to fill that role.

He got a DUI and argued with some coaches.  Who cares?

This from rotoworld,
http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&hl=113950&id=2003

Hey, the guy paid his pennance and sat out a year, maybe he's hungry to make amends and get back into the game. I sure it wasn't a Javon Walker type deal, and it might pay big dividends in the end. According to rotoworld, the Bucs were watching him for a while.

Wouldn't even call it solid.  It's one of those "meh..." signings.  It may turn out to be a good gamble like Stevens or one that doesn't work out like Boston.  Not really that big of a deal either way.

agreed.  signing former 1st rd picks to 1 year "prove it deals" is hit and miss but its worth the gamble.

Second round for Bryant...I remember he only fell to the 2nd because of character issues at the time of the draft...he was tagged "top 10 talent, 4th round character". Here is the thing...he's young (only 26), talented, productive, and looking to prove himself...if it doesn't work out who cares, if it does it's a genius move.

Another low risk/potential high reward signing, I don't have a problem with it. If he acts like a jerkoff, he probably gets cut, and they probably have all sorts of clauses in the contract tied to his behavior. When you look at raw numbers, his are better than any of the other free agent wideouts still available. When he's played, he's never averaged less than 14 ypc. Obviously Gruden/Allen will get roasted over this for his off field issues alone, but it's not a bad move; he's probably being paid next to nothing. As for Parcells, I bet if he'd thrown a pizza at him instead of a jersey, the ole Tuna woulda given him a lifetime contract.

And the coach he clashed with...Parcells.  Enough said.

Wonder who he'll get along with Gruden.  He may figure this is a last chance kind of deal and keep that head on straight.  It he can perform well and keep out of trouble I think he's got an immediate future here in Tampa that could really help this offense.

Sign a guy who was out of football last year and leave Bryant Johnson out there? Please don't say that Bryant is better than Johnson. We could have signed Bryant last year when we really needed the help and declined to for reasons unknown...I guess those reasons have changed? Simply amazingly stupid....!

FA is three weeks old and this superstar in the making, Bryant Johnson, is still sitting out there with other WR needy teams passing by.  The Bucs, one of those teams, signs a WR who was out of the NFL last year over this said future HOF.  Do you think maybe...maybe other NFL teams and the Bucs know something about Bryant Johnson that we don't?  He's made a few visits to teams yet no offers...huh?  Not sure how you can call this signing "amazingly stupid" when other teams are by passing as well.  I sincerely doubt's Antonio and Bryant Johnson's contract requests are near the same level either.

Actually I would definitely say Antonio Bryant is better than Bryant Johnson.

I'm kool with it..... Lord knows he's better than Clayton & Stovall. I wish we'd signed him in addition to Berrian.
