I've never heard of this guy. He'll start over Greg White though, eh? I suppose he's a run stopper.

He led all DE's in NFL in tackles for a loss.
Thanks for that info. That's a nice stat to know.

Good addition, you already know I was in favor of him being added to the roster. Let's hope Bruce crafted another good contract here.

...Douglas said he will be the starting left end on first and second downs, and he will move inside to defensive tackle on passing downs with the Buccaneers.

By the way, here's the full article:

http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/default.asp?item=1963473&49ers

Defensive lineman Marques Douglas, a classy seven-year NFL veteran, is leaving the 49ers after a successful three-year stay with the organization. He agreed in principle to a four-year contract with the Buccaneers, where he'll start at left end for a team that ranked second in the NFL in defense last season.

"Obviously, whenever you work so hard it's nice to be rewarded," Douglas said. "It's just that I was rewarded by another team. I wanted to leave the 49ers on a better note, but we didn't get back to winning. They'll just have to do it without me.

"I understand it's a business. I have no ill feelings toward the 49ers. I was there three years, they paid me well and they gave me a great opportunity. I gave a lot to the team and the community, and they gave me a lot back. They don't owe me anything."

Another atarter at LDE on the wrong side of 30 that's not much of a pass rush threat.  Hopefully he's just a placeholder for a stud DE at the top of the draft.

A few good things to point out here......
 - He led the league in takcles for a loss by defensive lineman
 - HE WAS HEALTHY ALL THREE YEARS in San Fran
 - He is CLASSY and has plenty left in the tank

Bye, bye Kevin Carter unless Rod Coleman isn't signed and carter moves to UT?

Definately a welcomed addition, as I was never a fan of Kevin Carter. Now if we could get a run stuffin DT we'd be set. C'mon Rod Coleman.

Actually, Blazin had it right and I had it wrong. He led all defensive linemen, not just DE's.

So much for White starting full-time at LE, eh?

I love this move. I think White will be much better for us moving around to multiple positions on the line (UT, LE, RE) like he did last year, instead of being an every down lineman at one spot.

He also played in a 3-4, which doesn't usually allow DE's to get many sacks. I expect in a 4-3 his sack total to inrease.
