49ers | Parrish released
Tue, 5 Dec 2006 22:48:58 -0800

SportsTicker reports San Francisco 49ers SS Tony Parrish has been released from the team.

I am not sure why they released him, maybe injury? He was inactive last week. Maybe the Bucs pull the trigger on this, given the current safties we have.

He shattered his leg bone last year and it was an awful mess. Cracks all up and down the bone. He's never been the same since.

So if the 49ers released him why would we want him? have you seen there defense? they allow more points than we do most of the time

No Thanks

He has oroven himself in the past. I did not know about his injury as well. I am willing to try anyone at either safty positions, compared to who we have now.

The reason they released him was because his play was poor and he hasnt recovered mentally from his leg injury last season. He was bench early in the season. Once a great saftey but since his injury he has been a bust..

Well, I have serious doubts about his ability to play since the injury, but he was a top safety. I'd consider bringing him in for a tryout and go from there, though he'd be a very long shot.

some had it right...

it was both physical and mental problems he is having out there on the field. he had a very nasty injury last year to the leg and i just dont believe he has recovered fully mentally or physically. he was not making the big plays that he was known for anymore. we definitely need safety help, so for us to release him, something was definitely wrong. i am sad to see him go, he had several great years for us. but i think his time may be up.

Man that sucks. Especially since he was someone I wanted the BUcs to look at next year. Now Im oficially pimping GIbril Wilson until next season. He's the best safety in FA IMO
