As most of you know, magicfan (who predicted we'd draft Bruce Gradkowski by the way) is a NFL draft super-fan and he loves to make mock drafts. So, to spare you a new mock draft thread every week or two, I'm going to post all of my mocks in here from now until the draft. Other mockaholics are welcome to post their mocks here as well.

I know alot of lot of you guys just can't handle the fact that people are interested in the draft this early. For those of you that fall into this category, grief counselors are waiting in Pirate's Cove to help you deal with this terrible tragedy.

I don't think we're as bad as our record indicates and still believe we'll win 5-7 wins. So, I'll be drafting under the assumption that our pick will be in the #5-#10 area.

Now, without further adeiu, magicfan39126's mock draft of October 1:

1) Quentin Moses/Gaines Adams (DE) Georgia/Clemson - Each of these guys are pass rushing animals that are almost carbon copies of Simeon Rice. I'd rank Moses before Adams but they're neck and neck. Dumping Booger and moving Dewayne White to UT and having a DE tandem of Rice and Moses/Adams would make our d-line a pretty fearsome pass rushing unit. And as most of us know, the Cover 2 defense can only succeed with a strong four man pass rush.



2) Kyle Young (C) Fresno St. - Our o-line has regressed in the run blocking depatment and this guy will immediately help Caddy. Young is 330 pounds with a nasty attitude and excellent mobility for his size, he's a run block specialist. With Buenning/Young/Joseph we'll have a pretty darn good young interior offensive line.



3) Aaron Ross (CB) Texas - Kelly and Barber are beggining to show signs of age and we have nobody in our CB corps that is young and talented except MAYBE Alan Zemaitis. Ross is 6'1'' with 4.45 speed, he's physical and an excellent tackler who would be a perfect fit in our zone system.



4) Steve Smith (WR) USC - Physical receiver with deceptive speed that has put up numbers at the college level. He could really develop into a solid #3 or maybe even #2 receiver, which we've really lacked since Michael Clayton disappeared from the face of the earth. Actually reminds me of a young Ike Hilliard.

You should post this on the college football board as well.  They talk about prospects there a lot. 

yeah I agree I think we should do all the mocks on the CFB board (and maybe we could have a competition to see who does get the closest) as far as this one, not bad, I like all of the picks, love the Young / Ross picks.

I really like the Moses/Adams pick. Slightly less than Levi Brown or Joe Thomas and sligtly more than Buster Davis.

I'll have to check out that C from Fresno State.

I dont think Smith will go that low. I think 2nd round maybe?

As far as wide receivers go, I'll take Calvin Johnson from GT. This guy is a stud and he seems to be a good character guy as well.

I think the Bucs will be big players in FA this year, especially if they are not offering Simms a big contract.  I think our draft needs will change completely during FA.

IF we are big players in FA I hope we go out and get some good defensive players. Dwight Freeney any1??? Sign him, then trade Rice for a 1st. And we could also add some speed to our O by signing a guy like Kevin Curtis. (not to look ahead)

Good point. Id like for us to be able to sign a premier Tackle in FA. We will be able to afford to. And if money should be spent anywhere it is there.  Its just a matter of whos available and where they want to play.

Sign a premier tackle, then trade Simeon for a 2nd round pick. Draft Moses/Adams in round 1. And atelast one defense pick in round 2.

Not sure if the BUcs could get a 1st for Rice. Couldnt get one this year for him. Hopefully we could pull a 2nd. Freeney would be nice. Or Lance Briggs. Briggs could be had, the Bears may not be able to afford him buut Im sure they will do everything they can to bring h'im back. I like Drew Bennett at WR. Thats our Jurevicius right there, and he's a FA. If we could sign Freeney and Bennett we could then draft Joe Thomas or Levi Brown

Derrick Dockery, LG, Washington, UFA (if Buenning can make the moce to C, as speculated on the old board)
Dwight Freeney, DE, Indy, UFA (highly unlikely due to cost)
Darnell Dockett, DT, Arizona, RFA (disappointing so far, but might benefit from the system)
Seneca Wallace, QB, Seattle, UFA (mobile, WCO QB, can see the field as WR, maybe PR/KR?)
Nate Clements, CB, Buffalo, UFA (probably too expensive)
Asante Samuel, CB, NE, UFA (local boy)
Ken Hamlin, FS, Seattle, UFA
Michael Lewis, SS, Philly, UFA
Gibril Wilson, SS, NYG, RFA

Hopefully we continue to build throught the draft.

I like the DE prospects, but we would do well, to draft a quality DT for our three technique position.  We have been lacking a consistent player at that position since the departure of Sapp.
