Can someone explain to me whats the difference between a UT and NT and why a UT is so important in our system. Thanks

Both play the run, and both rush the passer.

NT- he lines up in the off-side A gap between the center and guard. Due to where he plays, he commands the double team.

UT- he lines up in the B gap on the guards outside shoulder. Due to where he plays, he usually sees only single match-ups.

UT is so important in the Bucs 43 system because since guys like Sapp and McFarland only see 'single-matchups' some of the time they are expected to win those match-ups. The Bucs rely on this position to force pressure on the QB and are usually your better pass-rushing DT's.
