Seriously get over it. Dixon is a great athlete, but IMVHO he isn't a QB at this level, and to compare him and JJ isn't even close. JJ proved, while it be against crap competition, that he is a QB 1st before and athlete, and that he can handle a WCO. Dixon will more than likely end up being an athlete for Pitt, and he will be a good gimmick player if they are lucky, but Josh has future QB potential. If he doesn't reach it, then we can fall back on his athleticism and use him elsewhere, but I truly believe he is going to be one hell of a QB.I'm not saying Josh is a slam dunk, or isn't a risk, or a project, but he is actually a lot farther along than most realize. This was truly an excellent draft where we added some serious potential play makers.tell me what Josh Johnson does better? Please Im waiting. Thats why everyone on that panel said Johnson was a reach and Dixon was a good pick for Pitt. Thats why Dixon went before JJ. Dixon isnt a QB before athlete? How many TD did he throw for last year? How many INT last year. I doubt USC or Michigan would say hes just an athlete. Oh no Dixon becomes a Randel El how awful for him... feel so bad. JJ is a poor mans Dixon. If Tampa didnt draft JJ he would have been probably still sitting in round 6 and end up where Woodson went. If Im a athletic QB Id rather be in Pitt then Tampa. I heard on the radio here that they will keep Dixon at QB in Pitt but they think he also compares to Hines Ward. Thats why before his injury on most drafts sites he was a top 30 player. Yeah im sure JJ learning curve is shorter then Dixons yeah...LOL... OMG.. Mel said Dixon was a good pick? No way... wow... Come on now, don't let your homerism blind you. Dixon was a threat passing only because he could run. Defenses played him and Stewart running 1st before they ever thought about his passing. Defenses that were against JJ, played that passing attack. The only reason you even don't like JJ is bc you want everyone to be crying over not getting Dixon. HNo Im crying that we didnt get Erik Ainge. Dixon was off the board. I bet 90% of the teams had Ainge and Dixon ahead of Josh Johnson and Im willing to bet Tampa was probably the only team very serious about him. But its just speculation. Im happy for Dixon he has job security, sitting behind a good QB and has a good OL. Instead of being with a QB maniac coach who sell them as fast as he buys them and who hasnt develop a young one yet. Not to mention if he has to come in for some reason at QB he has a better OL, and more weapons on offense. So Im sure hes happy and wish him the best no matter where he plays.

For starters I agree with OregonBucFan about the draft 150%, maybe more... I don't like Johnson pick for a couple reasons. 1) I live in Minnesota and have see first hand Dante Culpepper, and now Tarvaris Jacksonn get escorted off the field because of injuries due to their running.

Yes, he's even smaller, so he's even more likely to get injured
I don't get the obsession with "replacement QBs" or "QBs of the Future"If Garcia hangs it up this season the Bucs plug in Griese. Why can't we stick with Vets? It won the Bucs a SuperbowlWhats the obsession with having this 20 something year old sitting in the wings at all times
Talib... fills a need but way better players available. Mendenhall should have been the pick, and IMO Cason is better. Tampa still needs BAP. We arent a super bowl contender. My pick here how it went would have been MendenhallJackson... some say hes not even a starting WR in this league and we take him round 2? Atleast 4 other WR I would have taken. Once again like almost every draft we take a reach and usually if not everytime we strike out. My pick here would have been Charles GodfreyZuttah... this makes my point about Joseph. I assume Allen and Gruden think hes a starting caliber player (who knows with them though) guess what most teams find starting interior OL in round 3... this is what pisses me off about Allen and Gruden drafting. It seems like they are just throwing darts. I have not seen this guy play but read about him. Im not going to judge on him but IMO there were guards rated higher them him available Schuening being one of them. My pick here would have been a WR (Manningham or Caldwell)Dre Moore... best pick all day for us. Probably 2nd rd talent. Cant complain fills a need and probably is = to many of the late 1st/2nd rd DT.Larry Brackins I mean Josh Johnson... all hype. Hasnt played against good players and is a reach. Sounds like Larry Brackins. People will post highlight videos of him tearing up some 5'6 CB like they did Brackins. By this time next year he will be gone. Erik Ainge goes next who probably had 2nd 3rd rd talent. I also would have also taken Andre Woodson.Hayes... isnt a big need, but definaetly seems like he could be a steal. Like the pick. Boyd... PS if hes lucky. Overall Id give it a c/c- draft. Round 2 pick being the biggest stretch. I cant see how anyone thinks that Talib was the best BAP in round 1 but he does fill a need, and that Jackson was the best WR on the board etc. Carolina hit a HR, they got 4 starters IMO in there first 4 picks. . Nawlins really improved there defense to go with a good offense, Atlanta got a future QB to go with a few weapons with him. Although I think they should have taken Dorsey they a QB round 2. I think the rest of the south closed the gap on us.
Quote from: bradentonian on April 27, 2008, 11:11:58 PMYes, he's even smaller, so he's even more likely to get injuredTrue, since size is the only factor that determines whether or not a player gets injured.
I agree with everything except the comment that the rest of the nfc south closed the gap.   The rest of the nfc south have passed the bucs in the offseason.  The bucs will be lucky to avoid the division basement this year.
