All you haters, feel free to officially sound off here.  By all means, show your ignorance of this great game by blaming Jon Gruden for this loss.

On the real:  No one expected this game to even be close.  Rookie QB chosen next to last in the draft, virtually no snaps under his belt, and offensive line that couldn't run block for s*** when healthy, now banged up.  A defense that was dead last in rush defense coupled with a very suspect secondary and special teams that are only special in a water wings and helmet kinda way.  Despit all of this, the Buccaneers were not only competitive, they were winning the goddamn ball game!  To say the Bucs overachieved yesterday would be an understatement.  What Jon Gruden did was make a very fine chicken salad out of chicken s***.  It's the special teams coach that has to go.  Today.

The team is 0-4, Gruden assembled the talent on the team.  You can say he coached the heck out of the team, but the reality that a great coach gets his team to convert those 3rd and 5's in the 4th quarter.  A great GM knows that defense MUST remain at a high level to win in this league.  A great GM knows that you upgrade your coaching staff, and get rid of non performers.

He has been a HC in this league for 9 years, and will have winning seasons in 4 of them.

The part I don't get is why some on here are apparently more a fan of Gruden then of the Bucs as a team.

Gruden did a great job of preparing the kid and putting the team in position to win. With rookies on the o-line, 6th round QB in his first start, to then rack up 400 yrds of offense is rediculous. Gruden haters are in full force, good post Buck.

When the defense plays lights out ala Skins playoff 06, and the offense can't pull a win, it's Grudens fault that the offense coudn't score. When the defense takes a vacation and the offense plays a near flawless game, Gruden is blamed because the players on D can't tackle?  [banghead] Kiffen is given full autonomy over the defense. Gruden doesn't touch it at all. As for the coaching staff getting upgraded, last year, the Bucs arguably had the best defenseive coaching staff in the league and everyone got all pissy when Allen tried to stop other teams from raiding the Bucs staff. And as for the replacement coaches, im pretty sure it was Kiffen that chose who was going to replace Tomlin and Marinelli. As much as I like Kiffen and the D, look at them first before pointing fingers at Gruden.

On another note, I wonder what Bornashmuck would say about the wasted pick on a QB that will never start in the league now?

Fans around here on this board can't distinguish between two things:

1) Who to blame.

2) Who should be the coach.

Those are two seperate things.  Gruden is the head coach and deserves the blame, but that doesn't mean that you fire him for not succeeding.  For some fans firing a coach is like giving him a spanking. You get your frustrations out by seeing the coach fired.  Nevermind what will happen with the team afterward.  Thats not even the issue. When you ask them "Who would be better?" They say "I'm sure there are a lot of good coordinators who deserve a shot blah blah..."  ITS NOT ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE DESERVE!

Its not about getting revenge on Gruden for losing.  Its about what is better for this franchise, and firing Gruden out of frustration and hiring some coordinator to learn on the job is not whats best for the franchise!
