Question for Obama Supporters (not really political)

Change! He's going to bring change, Buck It. Although no one really seems to know exactly what that change will be...

At this point in time, people would be willing to support communism. Which is basically what Obama supports. He wants government regulation of one industry after another, and socialized medicine. He has said he supports jacking up the tax on oil company profits to fund hand outs to the lower class. That's classic wealth redistribution.

Will we also be doing the same thing with Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and any other company the government thinks makes too much profit?

The only people complaining about democrats are the rich and upper middle class. Or the brainwashed Bush voters because they are still upset that they we're wrong for the last eight years and like to lash out on everyone else. Simple enough.

Im a capitalist. And I support capitalism. Which is what this nation was founded upon and has been not for 8 years but over 200 years.

I havnt quite figured out what the hell Democrats support yet...

Oh and we are capitalists currently? You better look at the country around you dude.

You want to tax companies you think make too much money in order to turn around and hand out the money to bail out homeowners who shouldnt have bought a home in the first place. The only people you are bailing out are the banks like Countrywide who should never have given out those loans in the first place!

I always thought the market determined prices, and therefore profits, I guess its now the goverments job.....slippery slope IMO.

My suggestion, take a break from Rush Limbaugh. Take  a step back and make your own political decision. Not what some guy on the radio tells you.

I dont care what Rush Limbaugh says. I care about what i have believed my whole life. I dont believe in socialism. I dont believe in communism.

I dont believe it is the government's job to determine how much money I am allowed to make. I dont believe it is the government's job to determine how much money a corporation makes. When the government controls profits, jobs, price caps, and the means of production....that's a communist system. And that has never been done in America. And if we try it, America will turn into a toilet just like every other country that has tried that seriously flawed system of economics.

Yep. This kind of capitalism is out of control. Need to retool.

Corporations rule the world. And in some cases, are ruining the world. When profit is
the only goal of so many corporations, problems will arise.

Oil companies do not control the price of oil, fact.  The US is pretty much impotent in the oil markets these days, apart from getting the dollar under control and reducing our own consumption.   There are many companies with much higher profit margins than the oil companies, so should they get taxed as well?

What is funny is the people who actually believe when Obama is elected that the price of gas is going to plummit because he will get rid of corruption.

The US does not control oil prices nor does US oil companies. The price is oil is largely controlled by global demand and by OPEC. The US has no influence in OPEC because we are not a petroleum exporting country.

Unfortunately, markets are not always self-correcting and need regulation to maintain balance.  Capitalism (which I believe in) is preferred because it is considered to be the most just form of wealth distribution.  However, and as Adam Smith himself said, the tenants of Capitalism only hold when the participants are acting with a sound moral base.  Unfortunately, this is not the world we live in. 

The government of a nation hosts the market, and therefore set rules that benefit the people within the system.  It doesn't mean that the gov't is against these businesses becoming exceedingly wealthy, but this has to come from ingenuity and the out-competition of peers.  Not from collusion, insider trading, monopoly, and extortion.  This destroys fair competition and spoils the market. 

At a given point in time, when the system appears to be broken in some way, the people (gov't) have no obligation to maintain the current trend out of some sort of perceived awe at their Machiavellian master's generosity in supplying them the price-buster discount.
