Caddy only proved himself over the course of 3 games, but that doesnt stop folks for calling him "great."

Allow me to make my standard pet-peeve claim here, if I may. The second half of Caddy's rookie season was very good as well. That's not to say that he hasn't been a real disappointment since then, but I hate to take those games away from him. He was a beast, for example, in the Christmas Eve game against the Falcons. Sure, he had a ton of carries and the Falcons' run defense stunk, but averaging a 4.8 yard clip for 31 attempts is still a darned good game.
Exactly. He topped 100 yards 3 times and came close 3 other times. He had some poor games, but the two poor showings after the bye can be attributed to Simms' ineffectiveness, allowing teams to stack the line.

Seems to me he gained more yards in the 2nd half of '05 than he did in the first half. However, it's convenient for some to hold on to the "3 games" mantra no matter how incorrect it may be.

Happy and Peppy and Bursting with love.

give Garcia a pay increase to put him in line with the average starting QB salary.   add 1 year to what he has now.   he's got to understand that he's old as dirt, but at the same time, he should at least be earning what other starting QBs earn.   this franchise is so damn cheap!

It's both convenient and accurate.  Cadillac is a 3 game wonder.

First 3 Games: 88 Carries for 434 Yards.  An average of 4.9 per carry.  0 Fumbles

Remaining Games in 2005 Season including Play offs (12 Games): 220 for 793.  An average of 3.6 per carry and 4 fumbles.  That hardly qualifies as "very good."

Average 2005 Game not including the first 3: 18 Carries for 66 yards

So, was his production outside of the first 3 games a fluke?

Consider his 2006 season: 225 for 798 3.5 per carry and 3 fumbles.  That is about as close as you'd ever expect to get statistically.

Outside of his first 3 games, the best you can expect out of Caddy is to only be healthy enough for 220 carries and get 3.5, 3.6 per carry with more fumbles than TD's and little to no production in the passing game.

That's why BA gave Graham the extension, Dunn decided to sign here, and Kevin Jones is showing interest.  They all know what some on this board refuse to see:  Caddy is likely done, but even if he isn't, he isn't much of a threat to their PT in the WCO.

You're being deliberately obtuse.  Saying that he had an additional stretch of very good games his rookie season is quite emphatically not the same thing as saying that his rookie season was excellent from start to finish.

Consider, if you would, if Williams had gotten injured at the end of his rookie season rather than being toward the start of it.  That is, keeping all the numbers exactly the same, move the stretch of games from 10/2 through 11/13 to the end of the season.  The talk then would be that he started out strong but never recovered from his injury rather than saying that he was a three game wonder.  But Acacius, I'm sure you want to say, that sort of hypothetical is, well, hypothetical and therefore pretty much useless.  All I can say is that if he had to have a stretch of games where he was a non-factor, it was probably actually better for the team that they happen earlier in the season.

Now, don't get me wrong.  When I say that Williams was good when healthy his rookie season, I am quite emphatically NOT attempting to project that into any sort of future success.  Frankly, I don't see how anyone could disagree with Hate on the pointlessness of that sort of argument at this point.  Even if Williams comes back from his knee injury, you simply have to take his tendency to get dinged up into account.  That he played well down the stretch his rookie season is ALL I'm saying.

(I'll confess: I'm a bit biased.  I've never actually lived in Tampa, and that Christmas Eve game was the first game I got to go to at RJS.  That was such a completely awesome, and it seems like people are downplaying it when they talk about how all Caddy had to his rookie season was his first three games.)

I don't get the hate for EG either, it's not your money so why all the emotion? The man was given one chance during the regular season to prove himself and he did, what more do you want from him?
It is our money. We buy tickets, jersies, hats, beer mugs, car flags......and so on. We also pay with time, energy, emotion, passion, love. We are the NFL. If there were no fans, the athletes would have stopped playing years ago.

Once you understand the economics of professional football, you know it really is not your money. You can stop going to games, parking, buying beer, hats, etc. tomorrow and the Glazers would not miss a financial beat because their real revenue comes from the contract the NFL has with the television networks. The gate and revenue from ancillary items that you can effect is nothing more than the icing on a very rich cake. The fact remains they could pay Graham twice what they just agreed and it does not affect your wallet at all. Everybody is entitled to their opinion as to whether EG is worth the money but bottom line to get all emotional about someone elses money, when it in no way affects you is hateration.
There would be no TV contract of there were no fans watching. Next attempt please?

BTW, get a clue. I'm happy with the deal Graham got, and I think he should have gotten just a little bit more. So follow along. My posts are there to read. Hateration?

hard as it may be for you to conceive, I was not specifically referring to you when I used the term hateration.   Look outside yourself for a moment and realize it is not all about you and your message board opinions.

You've been seriously misinformed ;)
