Welcome to California, joe. I, in the name of all natives, now grant you official resident status.   8)

I'm only 10 miles from the epicenter, on the 7th floor. Fun ride. Laughed my azz off as one of the engineers flew by my office door on the way out of the building.. lol

By Russ Britt
Last update: 2:55 p.m. EDT July 29, 2008

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- An earthquake registering an estimated 5.8 on the Richter scale struck east of Los Angeles Tuesday. The U.S. Geological Survey on its web site said the quake struck roughly 2 miles southwest of Chino Hills, a suburb roughly 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The quake hit at 11:42 a.m. Pacific time, the USGS said. The epicenter is believed to be 7.6 miles below the earth's surface. Reports of damage had yet to be received.

Thanks. Now it's time for us to move!

People in Vegas felt it.

KFI (620AM) is covering it now.

If it hadn't been so deep into the ground, it would have done some noticeable damage.

Our place shakes when heavy trucks roll by so I wasn't sure until the shaking increased and
the house swayed.

Most earthquakes are pretty deep, it's the duration that causes the most damage. This one was pretty long for a sub 6.0. There's probably some serious damage around Chino..

I honestly dont see what the point of living in LA is.

Smog, Traffic, Quakes, Wildfires, Gangs, etc. What is the POSITIVE for living there maybe other then the Pacific ocean.

LA isn't the entire southern California area, just a small part..

Which areas of "LA" have you lived in?

And, BTW, I don't live in LA. Most people on this board who live in the area do not live
in LA. But we're in the area and we felt it.

Earthquakes are scary as crap!  I was in Cali back in 1990 and had a small one hit while at the airport; I totally freaked out while the locals acted as if I had farted.

Whoo hoo! I knew it!

5.4 is within my normal plus/minus .5 tolerance. I guessed 5.0 at first.

One of my unique skills.. lol
