What's funny to me again...is in another thread the Clayton apologists blame his lack of production on a bad QB and lack of production of the offense as a whole. Is it possible that these same excuses you apply to Clayton's situation also apply to Alstott?
Sad to say but I agree Alstott needs to retire. What aches me the most is that his endzone AIRNESS has become too predictable and because of that he's being stuffed. Can we bring Earnest Graham as Fullback? why not!? or simply continue using Caddy in 3rd & 1 situations. I love Alstott and he will forever be one of the greatest Bucs of all time, but it's time for this King to pass his throne to another.agree?
You know what is amazing about this? The fact that our judgment is clouded by loyalty and what players have done in the past. When I watch a Bucs game I am guaranteed to see Alstott get one or two plays a game. Every time he proves that he is no longer the same player (far from it). His run blocking has improved, but it still isn't good. He isn't a good blocker because that isn't what he does. He is a short yardage back, and right now he is a terrible short yardage back. The reason why he isn't any good anymore is because he is asked to get 1 yard most of the time he is in and he can't get that. Sure, the line doesn't get much push but we have a better short yardage back on our team already with Cadillac in my opinion. I wish we would make him inactive already. He takes up a roster spot and I'm just tired of it. The fact that Gruden feels the need to give him 1-2 plays a game is too many because they don't work. He hurts the team when he runs anymore, period.
