Nonsense.. they gave the guy a chance to show he had something which easily could have HELPED this team get something for him. He sucked in preseason so the only mistake Allen made was thinking this guy might look decent. You are way off base on this one. If you think he did this to hurt Simms... your crazy.

They had many chances to cut Simms since he was "sucking" but they waited till the final cuts before the season to cut him.

Who got hurt? Who didn't get sufficient reps? Josh Johnson? You're reaching a lot these days ADW, and it's not becoming.

They wanted to 'rest' Garcia and Griese, and they didn't want JJ playing too long, so they needed another QB for the Texans game.

Comprende?

I heard a brief interview with Ryan Nece and he didn't seem to be bitter about getting released and he was happy for Simms getting his release as well. Ryan Nece should end up with the Lions.

Unless you want to argue Bruce was waiting for a last minute miracle trade offer *snicker* there is no reason to hold onto Simms this late and cut him other than to teach him a lesson.

Bruce tends to take the high road but this is not one of those times unfortunately.

There was no reason to not hold on to him until the end.  How did that hurt the team?

You are reaching big time on this one.

Even assuming Garcia needed the "rest" no one buys that McCown, Griese, and JJ needed to have playing time taking away.

If everyone believes Garcia is doomed to not able to finish the season I would resoundingly say Griese/McCown/JJ could have definately used more reps.

If everyone believes Garcia is doomed to not able to finish the season I would resoundingly say Griese/McCown/JJ could have definately used more reps.

So those reps in the third quarter against other guys who got cut would have made a big difference for Griese or McCown?

This is absurd.

How is it absurd for McCown to receive more playing time?  Does McCown need more playing time to mature into a  quality QB yes or no?

McCown needs to work on his mental clock so it doesn't matter what the level of competition he would be facing.

Depends on if they were throwing to guys that were going to be kept.

Who among the players we kept, WR wise, played with Simms?

OK I'll buy that MBF, but just to get Dexter some experience. Anyone else?
