Speaking of whining...this board will whine about anything. The Captains? Some are whining about who the captains are? That's amazing. These guys are selected by the players who are the people who know them best.

C Jeff Faine and QB Jeff Garcia will represent the team while the defense will be led by three players in CB Ronde
Barber, LB Derrick Brooks and DT Chris Hovan. On special teams, S Will Allen will bear the captains "C"

In Football, RESPECT is never given freely by your opponent. It must be TAKEN from them...VIOLENTLY

Great players cost a lot of money but help win games. High-priced players - a byproduct of poorly run front offices with bad scouting departments - only cost a lot of money.

That keeps him from being a captain? Not like he is out for the season. Last year he wore a "C", did he not?

He was a captain last season, since Faine is the elder statesman of the team, Gruden might have felt he is better suited, but I think the players themselves vote on the captains.

Yep, I believe that's true Yuc. Captains are voted in by the players.

Well, does being elected a captain mean you're getting some respect? Now we'll see if it's really about money or respect.

Look at the captains and the answer should be pretty obvious.

If Ronde Barber had got traded to any other team in the offseason, he'd be a captain there without playing a down. A veteran leader is a veteran leader, you don't have to be a vet of the team nescesarily.

Will Allen obviously didn't just barely make the team, unless you can provide a quote from BA or Gruden, it's all fan speculation and opinion. Ditto on the Garcia point.

So he's obviously getting some respect from the players. Now we'll see if he quits whining about not being respected. If he keeps it up, then it's about the money.

It is, indeed, about the money. His competitiveness is tremendous, but there's a business side and a football side to the sport. He's whining on the business side right now, which (at least to my eyes) has little impact on the football side (at least in his case).

You sure about that?  Maybe that crudfest in the Jax game had as much to do with money as it did with rust.  Obviously something is impacting him on the football side....
