Should the roller coaster ride continue this season with another 8-8 or worse season does Gruden get the chance to sniff that three year contract extension or should he be shown the door?

While many are more then willing to let him continue at the rate he has been going since he was first brought in an use the excuse that who would coach the team then. That is easy someone with some fresh new ideas on both sides of the football weather it be a defensive minded coach or an offensive minded coach. Just someone who is willing to try different things and use the players strengths rather then trying to fit square pegs into round holes all the time.

We will see what happens if they do end up 8-8 or worse, talking about it after the 1st game is silly.

It's amazing how many people are ready to jump off a bridge.

It's a legitimate question, but I would also (if not moreso) want to address our GM position.
Clearly our pass rush MUST improve. If it does not, with all this cap space, why wasn't it addressed? We need more playmakers and yet the same thing applies. No QB of the future in place, still LT questions....
One game, but the division may be a lot better this season and even winning eight games may be a struggle.

Allen and Gruden have extensions, they aren't going anywhere.

Not ready to jump ship, was just wondering what everyone else thought, must fans always bring up who would coach if Gruden was fired. It is easy to answer as know one no how good Bill Walsh was going to be at first or any other coach for that matter. But to say that there is not a coach that could come in with new ideas and get this team to back to back winning season as some have suggested in the past is crazy

Well some will never be happy unless the team is the 49ers of the 80's.

There is a few coaches that could come in here with new ideas but in the end it will never be enough. You can replace Gruden with whomever and the threads are the same it's just gruden is beyond polarizing to this fanbase.

Again, at this point the season isn't a rollercoaster, they lost to the Saints on the road in the first game.

It's a legit question, but the timing is pathetic.  Asking after a loss like this with people jumping off bridges around you just screams of overreacting.

As to the question, no, if we have a losing season I think he's gone, extension notwithstanding.  I've posted that long before this game, and it wouldn't change if we had blown them out.

This question wouldn't have been asked if we had won.

IF Gruden did leave, I'd bring in Russ Grimm.

Usually you change head coaches because of poor efforts from the players. The team still plays hard for Gruden, so no one has given up on him. That means the changes to be made would be 1.) overhaul the player evaluation department to get better players and/or 2.) overhaul the [offensive] coaches to get more out of the players.

FRG is the most logical poster on this board.  You guys just don\'t like where the logical conclusions take you.

I'm in favor of this, and apparently "Hate" is available for the position...

In all seriousness, we could do with some new scouts. Not hating on the current picks but some of these selections have left a lot to be desired.

If Notre Dame comes calling again he might go.

we can dream...win win for everyone imo.  i think its possible to have a different offensive direction (power run game, PA) which might be more effective with our roster.

we've been hitting much more than missing lately imo.

Would Monte survive another head coaching change?
