Fri, 29 Dec 2006 09:05:02 -0800

Tom Kowalski, of Mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions DL Cory Redding will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but the club will attempt to re-sign him before he hits the open market.

I'm not a big Redding fan. He was highly touted out of HS and never really produced to his ability while at Texas and has since been moved to DT I think. I dont think he would provide much, maybe some depth. I dont think he would be a difference maker at DT and if he can't play end at Detroit under Rod then I doubt he would be able to contribute here.

Not interested. Just draft a DT on the first day.

I like Redding alot he never really could do much at DE but since he was moved to DT this season he has proved to be a potent pass rusher up the middle. He could be the UT we are looking for.

He is a body, and is not worth hemming and hawing over.

He has 7 sacks this year, tied for #2 in the NFL among DTs (behind Sapp with 9 sacks)

Every dog has his day.

His prior seasons aren't anything great.  He might be improving, but is that a result of MArinelli?  Whom does not work in Tampa anymore?

I would pass on this guy.  He plays for the Lions for chrissakes.

At the right price, Redding would be a nice addition as I have stated before.

I agree.

Robaire could be an option as well but I think he will stay with the Titans.

As a big Texas fan I was hoping for big things out of Redding.  Disappointing IMO.  I don't think he's he's big enough to be a consistent run stuffer up the middle, nor do I think he'll be strong enough over the long haul to be a consistent pass rusher.  Pass.

Redding's prior seasons havent been very good because he was just moved to DT from DE. He gets great pressure up the middle and we could use him as an UT.

Thats another interesting name out there. He seems to get great pressure from his DT position. Although at this point, just about anyone would be an upgrade over the clowns we have playing UT.

So what are we complaining about then? Nah come on thats pretty harsh. Hovan is a good NT and Wyms is decent as a situational UT, along with Haye. But yes we need a starting caliber UT baaaaaaad.
